Analysis of the Japanese market in July: Sony has 49.7 percent sales share!

Share

The BCN ranking, which compiles actual sales figures from 2,400 electronics and camera retailers and online shops nationwide, has summarized the sales situation and price fluctuations in the mirrorless market. These are the July 2024 Mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera sales share by manufacturer:

  1. Sony: 49.7%
  2. Canon: 20.2%
  3. Nikon: 12.6%
  4. Fujifilm (not mentioned in article but looks like something around 7%)
  5. Panasonic (not mentioned in article but looks like something around 6%)
  6. OM Digital (not mentioned in article but looks like something around 4%)

BCN writes:

Sony’s share of mirrorless sales volume has risen sharply from 33.3% in June. This is due to the price increase that the company implemented on August 1st. Sales have increased due to last-minute purchases before the price increase.

The company’s hit product “VLOGCAM ZV-E10” is particularly popular. It has maintained the number one sales volume for 25 consecutive months since July 2022. In particular, this July’s sales share was 29.3%, approaching 30%, recording astonishing sales. The secret to its popularity is its low price.

Famous Australian influencer says he will test Sony’s new cameras in a couple of weeks

Share

One of our readers (thanks!) noticed this at minute 8:00: Matt from North Borders states that he will be in Taiwan in a few weeks to test new Sony cameras. It seems a bit odd for him to reveal this if he is under NDA. I don’t think also he is talking about the August 28 Sony event because there we should only get the 85mm f/1.4 GM II.
I am not sure about his claim, so far I have only heard about the announcement of a new FX camera that will probably take place in September. Hopefully, he will give us more details soon to clarify what he meant by this statement….

What do you think…is this a real “teaser”?
