Petapixel is betting high on Sony launching a 80 Megapixel Sony A7rVI and new RX1 in 2025

Share

PetaPixel made a forecast for 2025 and thinks Sony will launch those two cameras:

1) Sony will launch the a7R VI and it will feature a jump to 80-megapixels.

The a7R V is a great camera, but Sony will finally answer calls to make a full-frame camera that will make the most significant megapixel jump in recent memory. Technically, Sony semiconductor already has the ability to make a 90-megapixel full-frame camera based on Fujifilm’s excellent 40-megapixel APS-C sensor, so there is an easy way to get to this mark. The only thing holding that sensor back would be its scan speed, but for a stills-focused camera, that might not be a deal-breaker.

2) Sony probably will lean more toward bringing back the RX1 rather than an RX100-style camera.

What do you think about this?

My own take based on good guess and NOT on rumors:

I am really not sure the A7rVI will still be announced in 2025….and much less sure we will get the RX1 successor. But of course I hope to be proven wrong!

Sony 28-70mm f/2.0 review by SonyAlphaBlog: “an ideal choice for wedding photographers”

Share

SonyAlphaBlog tested the new lens and concluded:

The Sony 28-70mm F2 GM is a surprisingly lightweight (918g) F2 zoom lens that is suitable for everyday use. Except for the drop in performance at the corners of the 28mm, it excels in most areas, including resolution, color rendition, micro-contrast, and smooth bokeh. It is an ideal choice for wedding photographers.

Also PCmag tested the lens and concluded:

The Sony FE 28-70mm F2 GM matches the flexibility of a zoom with the image quality and background-blurring power of a prime, and somehow doesn’t break your back in the process.

Aiarty Image Matting: AI-Powered Precise Background Removal and Image Blend (Christmas Special Offer)

Photographers, particularly those working on commercial or creative projects, often need to remove or swap photo backgrounds. This is often driven by practical requirements and creative vision. For instance, platforms like Amazon mandate a white background for product images to maintain uniformity and focus on the product itself. Beyond these practical demands, manipulating backgrounds offers significant creative potential. A blurred background, for instance, can effectively draw the viewer’s attention to the subject, while a textured background can evoke a specific mood or feeling. However, manually removing and replacing backgrounds can be a time-consuming and challenging process. It requires carefully selecting the subject, creating the mask, feathering the edges… Despite the effort, the outcomes can sometimes disappoint, especially when your photos come with intricate details or semi-transparent elements.
`
Fortunately, the AI industry is offering new possibilities for photographers and everyone alike with Aiarty Image Matting. Powered by state-of-the-art AI models, it allows users to accurately remove image backgrounds, naturally matte different foreground subjects, and seamlessly integrate subjects into new scenes, all with a simple click.
