Sounds like we are soon getting an APS-C E-mount lens…

Share

A German youtuber just posted a video where he says he bought the new Sony A6700 camera because he now has to review “something” that will be announced for this camera soon.

He didn’t mention the brand name but he often reviews both Sigma and Sony gear right before the announcement. My guess (guess and not rumor!) is that Sigma will announce a new APS-C lens in early February. Hope to get some solid info on this soon!

P.S.: Trusted sources told me a Sigma announcement is scheduled for early February!

It’s time for Sony to make Minolta SR-T inspired E-mount vintage cameras!

Share

As you all know vintage cameras like the Nikon ZF and Fuji X100V are selling extremely well. Canon is also rumored to be working on a new “classic” model. Sony seems to have no plan to launch such a camera. But if they do they should take inspiration form the Minolta SR-T (here on eBay). I asked AI to generate some Sony E-mount cameras based on that Minolta design and here is the gallery:

I am very serious about this, I do believe there are many good reasons whey Sony should do this:

  1. Vintage cameras are selling well..why should Sony miss that market?
  2. The younger generation loves the vintage looking cameras. Win them over and you have won over a long time investor in E-mount gear
  3. There is usability value in having a vintage camera with dials and mechanical controls that help you focus on what matters in photography
  4. Moreover Sony has a nice Minolta design heritage they can use! They don’t have to reinvent the wheel :)

I know Sony is reading me, and therefore they are reading what you think about this. So let them know in this poll and in the comment system what you want!

Do you think Sony should make a vintage camera?
