New FX30 firmware update does kill the third party battery support?

Axel Wolstenholme wrote me this:

Hi Andreas hope your well, just a bit of info I think you might find interesting; I just updated my fx30 to version 3.00 to try out the new sony monitor and control app. And the camera now rejects 3rd party batteries, well you can still use them but you get a warning pop up then it removes the battery percentage if you choose continue to use. There’s no mention of this at all on sonys update documentation, but could cause a lot of issues/ confusion with people. Hopefully you can pass the message on, Cheers!

I don’t know if that’s an intentional step from Sony. Would be bad news for all third party battery owners (myself included)!

Sirui announced the new 23, 33, and 56mm f/1.2 APS-C lenses

Sirui announced three new APS-C autofocus lenses for Nikon Z, Fuji X and Sony E mount cameras. All three will be released in November. CineD spoiled more info about these lenses:

Each lens weighs around 400g/0.88lb and has a 58mm front filter thread. The lenses have decent close-focus capabilities. The minimum focus distance of the 23mm is around 30cm, while the 33 and 56mm can focus as close as 40 and 50cm respectively. The Sniper lenses will be available in black or white finishes. The black version includes carbon fiber and metal gray parts, while the white lenses seem to have a glossy ceramic feel – which is quite unusual to see in a lens. Each lens should cost around €350
