Crazy rumors about a possible Tamron 28-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD lens coming in September

Share

There are now very wild rumors around the web that Tamron will announce a new 28-180 mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD lens in September. I have no idea if this is BS rumor or not, but if this turns out to be true, we will get a lens that no one else has tried before. The only lens that comes somewhat close is the Canon 24-105mm f/2.8. The Tamron would trade off the (very useful) 24mm at the wide end for a much longer 180mm tele focal length. I guess this would make the lens bigger than the Canon.

I can see this as a useful lens for indoor event shooters that need both flexibility and fast aperture. What do you think…does such a lens make sense to you?
