New Panasonic Lumix S1rII is rumored ot use the new 44MP Sony sensor….here are the impressive specs!

As you know, Sony announced the 44MP IMX366 sensor 1-2 years ago. It’s a high speed sensor that may or may not find its way into the future new Sony A7V. My gut still tells me that the A/V will retain the 33MP resolution… but I have a curious competitor rumor: Panasonic will announce a new S1rII next week that has a new 44MP sensor. I suspect it will be a variant of the new Sony IMX366 sensor, and the rumored specs are impressive (Source: L-rumors.com).

Full Panasonic Lumix S1RII specs (preorder here soon):

  • New 44 MP “high speed” sensor

Tamron firmware udpate for the 35-150mm FE lens: Supports 120fps of the A9III but without AF-C

Share

Tamron issued a firmware update for the 35-150mm FE lens: tamron.com/global/consumer/support/download/firmware/a058/sony_e/. Here are the benefits:

  • Improved AF performance during zooming
  • With α9 III, when its focus mode is set to AF-S, DMF, or MF, it will support continuous shooting at up to approximately 120 frames per second
    * Update can be done with TAMRON Lens Utility™.

But as noticed by PetaPixel:

While yes, the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is now able to shoot at 120 frames per second on the Sony a9 III, it can only do so in AF-S, DMF, or MF focus drive modes. The lens remains capped at the 15 fps rate when using AF-C, as is typical with third-party lenses used on Sony mirrorless cameras.
