Sony 85mm f/1.4 GMII still confirmed to be announced very soon

So folks, lately I have been silent on Sony rumors because of two reasons:

  1. The personal stuff that is keep me busy, told you about here and I can tell you know this will take a lot of more time than expected
  2. Sony has postponed the release of most gear and I am awaiting new info on the new launch dates

I don’t know why Sony postponed the ZV-E10II launch and other product launches. But this is not unique to Sony! Also Canon (read here) and Nikon delayed some of their product launches. Possible reasons could be the worldwide shipment havoc but that’s just one of the possible causes.

So I am awaiting to get confirmation on the new roadmap and these are the small updates I can give you today:

Sony 85mm f/1.4 GMII

All one trusted source told me is that it still seems the 85mm f/1.4 GMII might be announced very soon (possibly within early July)

Sony ZV-E10II and kit lens

Another trusted sources told me this camera should start shipping out in August. He has no info yet when the camera will be available for reorder (If June or in July).

24-70mm f/2.0

No info at all when this lens will be released but I am 100% sure we are getting it with or soon after the ZV-E10II launch

Exciting prospects ins second half of the year

The second half of the year will be finally exciting!

  • We are getting a new FX Full Frame camera between July and September. Shoudl be an FX9 successor
  • We are getting a new Alpha camera in August/September. Could be the A7sIV but I have no confirmation yet
  • We could get another Alpha camera in October/November. No info about this model
  • Small chance to see an “unexpected” model in October/November. More info about that soon!

Wrap up:

So that’s it for now, hope that I can sort my shit in the next days and find some more time to work on rumors soon! You can help me out on this and share the rumors you find or hear by using this contact box or by contacting me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

Sony’s new tutorial videos explain how their Electronic Variable ND works

A couple of Sony Cine E-mount cameras use Electronic Variable ND technology. In these videos you can find out how it works and why it’s important. I imagine some of you are wondering if this technology will ever make it into the more compact A7s or FX3/30 line of cameras. I hope the A7sIV will feature it, as it would add a lot of attention to this camera! Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Sony shares its long-term goals: Increased sales of 8 percent per year in the camera business, use of much larger sensors inside smartphones.

Sony shared the PDF’s disclosing their long term plans for each business segment. Here are some interesting notes:

  • Sony wants to increase the camera business sales by 8% a year til 2026
  • Sensor share revenue should increase to 60% til 2025
  • They expect sensor sizes to increase on future high end smartphones
  • They expect the Image Quality of smartphones to come “close to a human eye” through the use of larger sensors and AI

Private note: Lot’s of stress and unexpected things…expect some pauses on SAR

Dear SAR readers,

First the important things: health is fine and that is the only thing that matters.

But in the last 10 days many “bad” things have happened in my personal life and I am forced to work a lot on these issues. It is normal to have these contingencies, I have had them in the past and more will happen in the future. But I am writing this on SAR because I feel that this time may affect my writing on SAR. It might happen that I cannot update SAR for 1-2 days.

In Italian there is a saying, “Piove sul bagnato,” which I think can be translated to something like “when it rains, it pours” It means that bad news often happens all at once. This is the case now and I can only share one of them publicly:

For 15 years I worked on building the CUBE camera and realizing unique 1×1 meter big photos on Ilfochrome (direct positive images without negative and therefore one of a kind). We created 300 such images but now 38 of those photos got destroyed by a flooding. So I have to work to save all other photos and this is one of the issues keeping me super busy.

Here is the damage one of the Ilfochrome images (the violet part shows the layers blowing up and destroying the color info):

Sony will have some announcement soon, so I will try to still work at last to get the rumors. You can help me out on this and share the rumors you find or hear by using this contact box or by contacting me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!
