World’s first Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 FE review

Share

You can now preorder the new Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 FE lens at PerGear. Preorders should be available very soon on Amazon too.

SonyAlphablog just reviewed the brand new lens and concluded:

The Viltrox 16mm F1.8 (500$ / 520 euros) is a new gem from Viltrox. It is the only 16mm F1.8 prime for Sony mount and achieve top results optically and ergonomically

Optically : : very good to excellent sharpness. Very good color rendition, soft background blur, very good AF , good resistance to flare, low distortion , moderate vignetting, no focus breathing, low coma
Ergonomically : reasonable weight for a F1.8 wide angle, aperture ring click/clikless , digital screen, Fn buttons, USBC connectivity, weather sealed

The next best items would be the Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary (900 euros) or the Sony FE 16-35 mm F2.8 GM (2300 euros)

This will be the ideal lens for a landscape, astrophotography, night street photography or architecture. Highly recommended
