As you all know vintage cameras like the Nikon ZF and Fuji X100V are selling extremely well. Canon is also rumored to be working on a new “classic” model. Sony seems to have no plan to launch such a camera. But if they do they should take inspiration form the Minolta SR-T (here on eBay). I asked AI to generate some Sony E-mount cameras based on that Minolta design and here is the gallery:
I am very serious about this, I do believe there are many good reasons whey Sony should do this:
- Vintage cameras are selling well..why should Sony miss that market?
- The younger generation loves the vintage looking cameras. Win them over and you have won over a long time investor in E-mount gear
- There is usability value in having a vintage camera with dials and mechanical controls that help you focus on what matters in photography
- Moreover Sony has a nice Minolta design heritage they can use! They don’t have to reinvent the wheel :)
I know Sony is reading me, and therefore they are reading what you think about this. So let them know in this poll and in the comment system what you want!
