The Sony 36 Megapixel sensor used by the Nikon D800 and tested at DxOmark.
It’s always hard to be reliable on long term schedule. But sources told me that Sony set a “temporarily” release period for the next Sony Full Frame camera. If all goes well there is a fair chance the new High End Full frame camera could be announced in May-June. The camera will be more “photographer” oriented. There are currently a couple of different prototypes. One we heard of has a 36 Megapixel sensor (same as Nikon D800) and built-in vertical grip. Priced well above the current [shoplink 14165]Sony A99[/shoplink]. A second prototype has a new 50 Megapixel sensor which goal is to go as close as possible to a “medium format” quality. I am working to get more details but keep in mind that these are prototypes we are talking about! Nothing is 100% decided yet. But I am sure a High End camera is coming and that it will not be named A9x but something more like A1 or so…
