Dan Watson and Manny Ortiz gave further insight into the Sony A1II, also addressing the point of criticism with complete honesty. Still, I think the Sony A1II is the best Alpha camera in the lineup. The only real flaw is the higher price compared to the competition. But for professionals, some of the features are worth the price. So it really depends on your needs!

As noticed by DClife Sony shares hit highest price since listing in 25 years:

Sony Group’s stock price closed at 3,362 yen today, but rose to 3,398 yen at one point, reaching a new record high since listing for the first time in about 25 years, and has become a hot topic. Looking at economic news articles, the focus is on entertainment businesses such as “movies, animation, and music” rather than semiconductors. *The chart above is a screenshot from Google Finance .

VIsion Binoculars with Sony 52MP Starvis sensor can see i the dark up to 1200m range

Share

These new binoculars with Sony sensor inside collected over a half a million dollars on Kickstarter (Click here):

The Night Storm X1, night vision binoculars designed for those who aren’t afraid of the dark. See into the night with a whopping 1200m range, 850nm infrared sensitivity, and 52-megapixel image capture. Record footage in true 4K, and with 18 hours of battery life, you will see longer than the night can last.

Maybe Sony should consider making a Sony Alpha 7 “infrared” camera? :)

Sony 2025 camera roadmap: A7V, FX3II and 100 Megapixel Sony A7rVI?

Share

Guys, it’s time to share my opinion on Sony’s possible camera roadmap for 2025. Some things I’m sure about, some things I’m skeptical about, and some things I’m very skeptical about. For starters, I’m pretty sure we’ll get more cameras in 2025 than 2024 (A1II and ZV-E10II only). This is a possible list of cameras that could be announced based on the usual Sony release cycle:

Cameras that are NOT going to be released in 2025:

  • No successor to the A6700 (and no other APS-C E-mount camera either!
  • No successor to the A7cIIA7cR and no A7cS
  • No successor to the ZV-E1

Cameras that could be announced during the first half of 2025:

  • Sony A7V: Body of the A1II, new 44MP(?) and 20 fps(?)
  • Sony FX9/FX6 successor
  • Sony FX3II with 24MP global shutter sensor of the A9III

Cameras that could be announced during the second half of 2025:

  • Sony As7IV with 24MP global shutter sensor OR the Sony A7rVI with new near 100MP sensor (watch the video on top for more details)
  • Sony RX1rIII

Impossible dreams

My serious guess: I’m sure the A7V and the FX9/6 successor will come. I think an FX3II is also a hot candidate. But the real highlight should be announced in November 2025. And it will be one of these three cameras: A7sIV, A7rVI and RX1rIII. I would love to have all three, but I’m happy if Sony only makes one of them :) What do you think about this roadmap? Too optimistic? Something else missing? Let me know in the comment system!
