Sigma patented two new E lenses: 13mm f/2 (APS-C) and 18mm f/2 (Full Frame)
Asobinet spotted two patents describing the design of two E-mount lenses:
- Sigma 13mm F2 DC DN (APS-C)
- Sigma 18mm F2 DG DN (Full Frame)
Sigma teases the launch of new products on August 8th (definitely for 20 and 24mm f/1.4 FE)
Sigma will announce new lenses on August 8, 2022 at 13:00 London time. We already now what we will get:

Save $27 on the TTArtisan 50mm f/0,95 E lens. SonyAlphablog tested the lens and says “dreamy portraits without being soft”
You save $27 on the 50mm lens sold at TTArtisan store.
Marc Alhadeff just tested this lens and concluded:
The Meike 50mm F0.95 (249$) for E mount (APS-C = A6xxx) will be excellent for portraits and objects details, specially for close shoot with a beautiful rendering : good sharpness wide open and creamy background blur , beautiful bokeh balls, at F2 the lens is tack sharp. Color rendition is good, background blur is very creamy at short distance, contrast is also good for a F0.95 lens. Build quality is very good and focusing/aperture ring are well dampened
If you need consistency on the entire frame you will need to close to F5.6
Like a lot of budget lenses it can do better in term of CA and resistance to flare , but for a F0.95 it is perfectly usable wide open for dreamy portraits without being soft neither

Filmmaker
The Filmmaker competition elevates original voices that bring a fresh perspective to storytelling.
- Three categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Environment.
- Entries must be between 5 to 20 minutes in length and can be shot on any device.
- Shortlist of up to 15 filmmakers (maximum five per category).
- Winners and shortlist all receive a trip to Los Angeles to take part in the Awards ceremony and two-day workshop program.
- The three category winners additionally receive $5,000 (USD) and an FX9 Cinema Line Camera (plus lens).
Student Filmmaker
The Student Filmmaker competition rewards the talent soon set to shape the industry.
- Two categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction.
- Entrants must be studying a film course at a registered institution at a diploma or degree level worldwide.
- Entries must be between 5 to 20 minutes in length and can be shot on any device.
- Shortlist of up to 10 is selected (maximum five per category) to ensure representation for the different continents and a diverse range of global talent.
- Winners and shortlist all receive a trip to Los Angeles to take part in the Awards ceremony and two-day workshop program.
- The two category winners and their institutions additionally receive a range of Sony’s Digital Imaging equipment.
Future Format
The Future Format competition challenges filmmakers to respond to a new technical brief each year. For 2023, submissions must be shot exclusively on a smartphone.
- Entries must be between 2 to 5 minutes in length and can be shot on any smartphone.
- Shortlist of up to five is selected.
- Winner and shortlist all receive a trip to Los Angeles to take part in the Awards ceremony and two-day workshop program.
- The category winner additionally receives $2,500 (USD) and a range of Sony’s Digital Imaging equipment.
