Measured by PhotonsToPhotos: Sony A7rV his slightly more dynamic range than the predecessor

Share

Bill Claff measured the Sony A7rV Dynamic Range and the good news is that indeed Sony managed to squeeze out a better performance despite using the same 61MP sensor.

Imaging Resource is also testing the A7rV and the early conclusion is:

The Sony A7R V is shaping up to be another fantastic camera in Sony’s Alpha lineup. While it may not break new ground with its image sensor, it features many interesting improvements across the board, especially with its autofocus system. Besides, Sony doesn’t necessarily need a new sensor, given that the A7R V’s image quality is second-to-none in the full-frame camera market.

Nobody ever attempted this: Here is why the Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G lens will be a STUNNER!

Share

You know that feeling when you prepare your camera bag for a longer travel: You will pack the 16-35mm and 24-70mm lens to cover the needed focal length. Well this might be about to change! Sony will announce the world’s first 20-70mm G zoom. It’s unconfirmed what the aperture will be, but it’s rumored to have constant f/4.0.
Nobody ever attempted to make a standard zoom with such a wide focal length. As you well know having 20mm instead of 24mm makes a whole lot of difference. And it might be that for some of our readers this one lens is wide enough to get this one lens instead of the dual zoom combo I mentioned before.

Here is how much wider the image will be (Source Github):

In a world where innovation is rare I am glad to see Sony doing something new, something that could even Canon and Nikon owner make wonder if they should jump over to Sony!

Would you consider to buy the new 20-70mm f/4.0 G lens?

Sigma will announce a new 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS lens in early 2023

Sigma currently sells a 60-600mm lens for Nikon F and Canon EF (for about 2000 Dollars/Euro here on Amazon). According to a very reliable Japanese source Sigma will announce a new 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS lens in early 2023. This will be available for L and E-mount for sure. I also guess that it will have a new optical design and not be a copycat of the current existing lens.

There is yet no info about the pricing and exact release date, btu stay tuned for more!
