This has been an extremely slow year from Sony, but at least I can finally share a reliable rumor about one of the next Alpha Full Frame cameras. Two trusted sources confirmed:
The Sony A7V will be on market between January and March 2025.
It’s unclear when the exact announcement will happen (it might happen in late 2024 at best). I have been told the camera initially should have been announced in October 2024 (so one month from now) but the announcement got delayed. So while announcement timeframe is unclear I am confident the camera will start shipping in Q1. I don’t have 100% confirmed specs yet but the main improvements on the A7V will be related to “speed” and “new AI features”. Definitely do NOT expect to get global shutter or 8K recording on this model.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Postponement of the entire Sony product launch!
Sony has once again postponed the launch of its new cameras and lenses. We were supposed to get a new FX9 successor camera in late summer, but that didn’t happen. There seems to be a production bottleneck in the entire industry, which has now also been officially confirmed by Canon Japan. This is probably the reason why the A7V will only be launched in Q1 2025 and not in Q4 2024. I now need to gather information on the announcement date of the following products that I know are on Sony’s roadmap:
Sony FX9 successor
Sony 24-70mm f/2.0
Sony A7V
Sony A1II
One more lens (specs unknown yet)
Those 5 products should be announced within the next 6-7 months with the FX9 successor and f/2.0 zoom coming before the A7V announcement. – If you have more info about the next Sony cameras and lenses you can share send me a message using this contact box or at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

Cooke announced a new 18mm T/2.4 Cine lens you can reorder for $4970 at BHphoto (Click here). Explora writes:
The new 18mm SP3 gives you a 99° field of view on full frame sensors, which should prove incredibly useful for establishing shots, tight spaces, and becoming the next Emmanuel Lubezki. The lens also has a close focus distance of only 9.8”, which is helpful for any of those aforementioned cramped quarters. The full six-lens set is now more than enough to cover typical production needs, ensuring you could lens a project start to finish with just the SP3s. These are not budget cine lenses, but they are an incredible value compared to the cost of renting or buying Cooke’s larger Panchro lenses.
TTartisan announced the new 14mm f/3.5 autofocus pancake E-mount lens. It features 7-group, 8-element structure, weighing only about 98 grams, with the closest focusing distance of 0.25 meters. No info yet about pricing and availability.
