We noticed a price drop on Sony Distagon T* 24mm f/2.0. In US all major stores do offer a $100 instant saving (Click on store name to visit the product page): Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto and [shoplink 4419]eBay[/shoplink].
Those are the other current fullframe Zeiss lenses for Sony (Click on store name to check price and availability):
– Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 ZA Lens (Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto)
– Sony 24 -70mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T Zoom Lens (Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto)
– Sony 85mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T Coated Telephoto Lens (Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto)
– Sony 135mm f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T Telephoto Lens (Amazon / Adorama / BHphoto)
According to two of our sources Sony should unveil the new Sony A850/900 firmware update by end of the next week. It’s Christmas time and Sony wants to push the full frame camera sales. Would be nice to see some price drops too ;)
We only know that exposure compensation, AF performance will be improved. One source said also the image quality will have a major improvement (but that hasn’t be confirmed by other sources). We don’t know yet if also the A700 will get a firmware update. If you know something please contact me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!
We are getting closer to Christmas and many US and Uk stores started the Black Friday deals. Every day you can find new deals and you might find something interesting for you (let’s hope to see some nice offer on Sony products). If you use those links to purchase something SonyAlphaRumor will get a small commission that helps me to pay monthly sever and mantainance costs. Thanks!
I received a few confirmations from other trusted sources about the NEX-7 announcement by early 2011. They confirm it will have a built-in Viewfinder and it will NOT have any in Body-stabilization. They also confirmed that the design is very close to the NEX-7 main competitor the [shoplink 4718]Panasonic GH2 (Click here to see that camera design and specs)[/shoplink].
We have a few unconfirmed specs from new sources. They are rated SR3 (which means there is a 50% chance they are correct):
– 16 megapixel sensor
– OLED EVF
– AVCHD recording
If you have some news to sahre about the NEX-7 contatc me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com or use the contact form on the right sidebar. thanks!
Lori Grunin from CNET reviewed the Sony A55: “Expensive and probably a bit large for the typical point-and-shoot upgrader, the Sony Alpha SLT-A55V nevertheless delivers the performance and photo quality boost those shooters are expecting.”
There is also a very long and detailled review at Letsgodigital: “What remains is a remarkably good performing camera, we cannot deny it. The Sony SLT-A55 uses an old technology to innovate and optimize, which has raised the camera to an outstanding level.”
For our japanese readers: Itmedia and Journal.mycom also posted a new A55 review.
Les G. sent us the following text: “There is a full review of the [shoplink 3617]Sony A55[/shoplink] in this week’s “Amateur Photographer” magazine in the UK, in the issue dated Sat 20th Nov 2010. The tone of the review is mostly very positive and enthusiastic. (NB – The AP never prints any review without including at least a few ifs & buts! The AP always awards marks out of 100. The reviewer has awarded 84% (ie 84/100) to the Sony A55. This compares very well to their rave review of the Nikon D7000 in last week’s issue 13 Nov, which gained just 85% (85/100).”
