That’s a suprise! Samyang just announced the new 8mm f/3.5 FISH-EYE CS VG10 lens designed specifically(!) for the [shoplink 3058]Sony NEX-VG10[/shoplink]. There are no info about the price and availability yet. They also said that “We are also about to introduce Samyang lens with Sony E mount for NEX system cameras.” You can find a few images of the lens at optyczne.pl.

Press release:
Kraków, February 28 2011 – Delta company, the sole distributor of Samyang Optics for Poland and Europe, wishes to inform about the release of the manual Samyang 8mm f/3.5 FISH-EYE CS VG10 lens. The new lens comes with the bayonet mount and has been designed especially for Sony NEX-VG10 digital camcorder.
Due to its unique construction, the bayonet mount has been adjusted to ensure possibly wide field of vision without producing the vignetting effect. Just like in other lenses manufactured for filming purposes, aperture can be easily and smoothly adjusted.
New Samyang 8mm f/3.5 FISH-EYE CS VG10 lens will be officially introduced during the forthcoming Focus on Imaging fairs held in Birmingham. Exact date of the release as well as the product’s retail price will be given later.

We are also about to introduce Samyang lens with Sony E mount for NEX system cameras.

(SR4) A77 price, 16-50mm lens and Zeiss E-mount lenses rumors from a good source

Share

One of my good sources sent me a new message to post on SonyAlphaRumors (I rewrote the text):
Hi Andrea, the price of the A77 body ($900-1200, close to the [shoplink 5117]Canon 60D[/shoplink]) could be correct. I can confirm the focal length of the new A77 kit lens (16-50mm) but not the aperture f/2.8. The naming of the A77 is not final yet! At the moment Sony is working close with Zeiss Germany (they had a lot of meetings in 2011). We will see some new lenses (for [shoplink 3003]e-mount[/shoplink] to) in near future… May directly from Zeiss? Greetings from XXX ;-)

Thanks XXX!

A second very good(!) source told us that while is true that Zeiss will focus on fullframe lenses for Sony there are still two APS-C lenses planned for release in 2011-2012! So the new rumored 16-50mm kit lens should be real!

So we are getting closer to some exciting new announcements. NEX-C3 and E.mount lenses in April and a few months after the A77 and new lenses. If you have some rumor to share contact me at sonyalpharumor@gmail.com. Thanks! And invite your friends to follow us! And join us at Facebook, Twitter and follow our RSS-feed!

Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor

SR3=50% chance it is correct

SR5=almost certainly correct!

Sony Photokina Press Conference: details of new A700 replacement

Camera Test: Sony SLT Alpha-55at Adorama: “On balance, the Sony SLT Alpha-55 is a rousing success. It’s a convenient, fascinating, fun, high-performance camera that will satisfy advanced enthusiasts as well as beginners, and maybe even a few pros. It delivers an incredible number of useful features, its high speed and HD video capabilities are exceptional, and it represents a great value for around $850 with 18-55mm lens. The fact that it literally teaches you what all those buttons and settings do is icing on the cake, and should be a great motivation for legions of picture takers stepping up to their first serious camera.

Control the NEX with your iPhone!

Share

Dpreview forum user “Bikr” built an Apple iPhone application to control the NEX cameras!

The App sends the [shoplink 3003]Sony NEX-5[/shoplink] an IR signal through a transmitter connected to the iPhone. Two shutter release signals can be sent, immediate release and with a 2 second delay. The Sony NEX-5 remote below has the same capability. The Sony NEX-5 iPhone Remote Shutter App should also be able to control other Sony Alpha cameras with IR receivers. The NexRemote App will be in the iPhone App Store soon.
I have tons of features in the works including programming bulb timers , increasing the 2 second delay with a timer delay before firing the shutters etc.. Lots of stuff in the works!!
Android = I’ll work on it!!
intervalometer = It’ll be in next version I promise!!
Ipod Touch = 99% sure.

Mr.Imamura from Sony :) (via: hx9v)

In an interview give at Bloomberg Masashi Imamura (president of the Personal Imaging & Sound Business Group at Sony Corp) said that “We’re currently discussing our next target, and that will certainly be higher than 15 percent“. In 2009 Sony had 11% share of the interchangeable lens market. In March 2011 Sony reached the 15% target. But Mr. Imamura is confident that with the introduction of the new model Sony will get closer to Canon and Nikon.

Reminder: According to our sources Sony will announce two NEX cameras (NEX-C3 and NEX-C5) and one Alpha (A77 with 24 Megapixels) within 2011. But there will be also many new lenses ad new camcorders with NEX and Alpha mount.
