(SR3) Sony NEX-7 to be announced along the Sony A77

Share

I still don’t have a 100% reliable confirmation from my sources but it sounds like the NEX-7 could be announced within the next few months. A new source told me that it will be announced around the same time of the A77 (July). It will feature the same A77 sensors (very likely 24 Megapixels). The big question is if it has a built-in viewfinder. The trusted sources didn’t tell me anything about that but they said the NEX-7 will not be a [shoplink 3003]NEX-3/5[/shoplink] successor, it will be a complete new NEX model. But there is one thing you have to keep in mind. After the recent Japanese disaster roadmap could change within the next weeks. As soon as I receive some info about that I will post them on SAR.

One more thing: All sources do confirm a new NEX and SLT camera will be announced next week. If the rumors are true we should see new models on Monday or Tuesday. Don’t know the extract time yet (I hope some of you can tell me about it). Stay tuned on SAR!

Zeiss announces the Cp.2 adapter for E-mount

Share

The Zeiss CP.2 adapter for E-mount will be start shipping in June. With that adapter you can use the $4.000 CP.2 lens on your NEX cameras. Those lenses are welcome addition for filmmakers. I would not buy it for still work because that’s not the use (and not the price) they are meant for. There is a list of all lenses at BHphoto.

Press release is avaiable on DPreview (Click here).

(SR5) After the announcements in April more Sony stuff coming in May

Share

It’s going to be hot here on SonyAlphaRumors. We will have many new products announcement right before the NAB show in Las Vegas (April 9). And now we learned that there will be even more Sony digital camera/lens announcements in May. And than we will have the A77+lens announcement in July. If you are planning a vacation and do not want to miss any official Sony announcement June is your only option ;)

A BIG question on my sources. Does the NEX-7 have built-in EVF or not? Let’s hope the answer is yes!

P.S.: I need a favour from one of our US readers. If some of you is planning to buy a product on Amazon today can you please use that link: Amazon.com and send me an email to tell me what you bought? I need to check if my affiliate links are really working because I am continually getting some kind of weird error message. As you know we rely on those links to pay our server and wesite costs and I am want to be sure that everything is working fine. Thanks!

(SR3) Pentax future APS-C mirrorless system with Sony sensor (will they join the NEX system?)

Share

The picture on top shows the Pentax mirrorless system with very small sensor (1:2.33). The second system will have a Sony APS-C sensor.

As you know Pentax is now using Sony sensors only (instead of the Samsung sensors). Alejandro from MirrorlessRumors.com just published a rumor about Pentax launching two different new mirrorless system. And he has been told that Pentax will use the same Sony NEX sensors for their large sensor APS-C system. The other system has a small 1:2.33 sensor made by Kenko.

I didn’t hear anything about a possible Pentax and Sony mirrorlress partnership but I would love if Pentax would join the NEX system and you? That would put a bit of pressure on Sony and we could enjoy Pentax lenses too! Let’s dream…

P.S.: The weird design of the camera is based on the old but popular [shoplink 6193]Auto 110 camera[/shoplink].

Select the lenses you would definitely consider to buy:

Sony A33 gets reviewed at Steve Digicam’s

[shoplink 3620][/shoplink]

Right before the possible A35 announcmenet the discontinued [shoplink 3620]A33[/shoplink] gets reviewed at Steve Digicam’s: “We were impressed with the A33’s usability, image quality and performance oriented features during our testing, especially when you consider its attractive price point, and we have little doubt that this camera will appeal to a wide variety of photographers.

The A35 will bring only marginal improvements and the A33 is currently discounted here and there. So you might take a look at [shopcountry 3620] (Click on shop name) to get the A33 camera for cheap!

P.S.: If you want to see something strange look at the Sony NEX-5 with Sirene 135 Large Format Camera on SonyAlphaNex.

(SR5) Sony A77 has a 3 Megapixel OLED viewfinder (and probably for NEX too)

Share

We know have confirmation from our sources the A77 will feature a 3 Million dots OLED viewfinder. That more than double of the resolution fo the current [shoplink 3617]Sony A55/33[/shoplink] viewfinder. They have 1,4 Million dots (of which only 1,1 Million is used). We have no specific technical details about the new viewfinder but we were told that it has a higher refresh rate and a greater brightness too.

One more thing: the same viewfinder will be used for NEX cameras too. But the soruces didn’t tell me if that means there will be soon an optional external EVF or a camera with built-in EVF (?).

Sony A580, NEX-5 and Vivitar 85mm review

Share
[shoplink 6161][/shoplink]

Kurtmunger (Click here) tested the Vivitar 85mm f/1.4 lens: “The inexpensive [shoplink 6161]Vivitar 85mm F/1.4[/shoplink] turned in a darn good performance, making an medium telephoto 85mm F/1.4 accessible to cost-conscious people, as this wonderful lens is priced $1000 less than the [shoplink 6052]Sony CZ 85/1.4 planar[/shoplink]! How does the Vivitar stand up to the CZ, or [shoplink 5979]Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM[/shoplink]? I don’t have the CZ 85mm with me, but if memory serves me correctly(!), I think the CZ is sharper with better contrast at F/1.4, although I’m not sure about the mid-sections and corners, other differences can be culled from the Sony CZ 85mm F/1.4 review. The Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM is very similar to the Vivitar in sharpness“.

Thisweekinphoto (Click here) tested the Sony NEX-5: “Back to the one question I have not answered, does the NEX-5 replace my Alpha 850 as an everyday camera. Since I shoot so little with flash or in a studio these days  it really does, in fact I have let go of my A850 to a more deserving home already. I am not saying I wont own another DSLR or even the new Translucent Mirror Sony due out later this year, but I really like having a camera that is small and almost always on hand.

ThePhoBlographer (Click here) posted the complete Sony A580 review: “The a580 has performed masterfully in a variety of situations. It handled the hot, hot heat of Thailand and the confusing lighting of a concert in Brooklyn. It did well with sweaty hands and it recorded a number of videos in radically different locations with ease. The a580 is a prime choice, especially if you’ve got a bevy of great Minolta glass and if you’re not quite partial to the two SLTs, the a33 or a55.
