Just came back from a 3 days trip and now I have time to post new rumors. We are getting closer to a very exciting time and I am in touch with many sources to get reliable info about the next cameras and lenses. Let’s start!

The same source that sent us the NEX roadmap also sent as a few info about the Sony A77 and the [shoplink 3617]A55[/shoplink] successor (already?).

This is the text:

Together with NEX-7 and SLT-A77 sony will also release the successor of A55, may A66? and a newly designed 16-50mm kit-lens for D-SLR. I´m a little confused about the early specifications from A66?, it sounds same like A77 with less speed “just” 10fps vs. 12 fps, different body and differences in EVF (both OLED).

I heard from trusted source that Sony wants to implement the OLED technology in their future electronic viewfinder. So this part should be definitely correct. I am a bit surprised to hear that Sony has already a new A55 successor in the pipeline. Wonder why Sony should do this, the A55 is selling very well (proove is that only Amazon has them in Stock).

As usual if you have rumors to share please contatc me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Every piece of info helps! Thanks!

(SR3) New A-mount mirrorless camera to be launched soon?

Share

According to PhotorumorsSony will release a new mirrorless camera with 3  CD (CMOS) sensors. Each of the sensors will be 6MP and the combined ISO will be up to 819 200 (up to 16mp combined image size). The camera will have an α-mount, contrast AF, 1.5x crop factor. It seems that working models are already floating around to selected individuals.

I received a similar rumor over one month ago and I didn’t post it because I thought it was a joke. But another source just gave a new information that Zeiss developed servo lenses with Alpha mount for that camera! I am starting to believe there is something true behind all those rumors…

Sony NEX-5 now comes in GOLD.

Sony unveiled the new Gold NEX-5. It should be released by February the 10th. Using a gold body and silver lens is not my taste but you might find it cool!

Sony close to become number one in japan ;)

Share

Sony is about to write history (ok ok it’s an exaggeration)! Since years Nikon and Canon have been always on top of the weekly japanaese sales chart. In over two years I never saw any other company become the number one in those rankings. Now look at the latest BCNranking data. In Japan the [shoplink 3003]Sony NEX-5[/shoplink] was the second most sold system camera of the week! Now we are very close to the Canon Rebel. Message to Sony: Release soon those new lenses and you will become number one in a second ;)

Mark Weir (Sony) interviewed at Imaging Resource

Share

Sony marketing is finally giving some sign of live and they are spreading good news regarding the future of Alpha and NEX! Mark Weir has been interviewed by Imaging Resource. The interview is very long and full of interesting news. Thanks Mark for answering all questions! I am sure also SonyAlphaRumors readers will appreciate it ;)

A few interesting notes:

– NEX They are by far the number one selling mirrorless cameras in the United States…the [shoplink 4617]A580[/shoplink] and also the [shoplink 3617]A55[/shoplink] have seen demand that has exceeded just about everyone’s initial expectations
– . We’ve been acutely aware of the concern for the arrival of the A700 successor — actually, quite acutely aware, and we’re sorry that it’s taken as long as it has — but we believe that when this successor arrives, everyone will realize that it was very valuable to first develop the technologies and the capabilities that will go into the model, and to save it for those.
– With another year of development of those key devices, we believe that we’ll see a new generation of translucent mirror cameras with new capabilities
– I think it comes as no surprise that many of the models that really are attracting the attention of many enthusiast, semi-pro and even professional users these days are no longer full-frame, but rather the very, very top-end of the APS-C line-ups that are being created. ….This has led to longer life cycles for full-frame cameras
– The 500mm f/4 is coming soon
