(SR2) Is Sony playing with the idea to change their Fullframe plans? (Thom Hogan and mirrorlessrumors)

Share

Before you read the news. Those are rumors only! We are not talking about official news!

According to rumors floating around the web (for example on Thom Hogan and mirrorlessrumors.com) Sony is currently planning to slow down or even stop the development of FF cameras and lenses. We are talking about a long-term decision. This will not affect their short-medium release cycle. We from SonyAlphaRumors also received similar (and confused) rumors but we need to check those with more reliable sources. We should see it positive: I hope Sony folks will express their disappointment with that “possible” and maybe “unlikely” scenario. Let Sony know that you want them to expand their FF camera and lens range! And, I guess this is a good chance for Sony to proove that they are still commited to FF!

The very next Batis lens should be the...

(SR4) UPDATED -> Not only Zeiss 24mm also one fullframe and one DT lenses to be announced tomorrow!!!

Share

Exclusive from SonyAlphaRumors! We received first “hints” that not only the Zeiss 24mm f/2.0 will be announced tomorrow. According to some of our sources Sony is also preparing the launch of two primes (not Zeiss). One is the 35mm and the other the 85mm lens. They should have an affordable price and be relative fasts.

UPDATE: The 24mm and 85mm are Fullframe lenses. I am not sure about the 35mm (is it APS-C or FF?). One new source told me that it is a 35mm DT lens with f/1.8 aperture (Like the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C)). The Fullframe 85mm could have an aperture of f/2.8!

It’s a nice coincidence that the two G primes are both on the upper part of our lens poll results: Click here to see the POLL results

The announcement is expected to be made tomorrow…So follow us on SonyAlphaRumors! Don’t miss any news follow us also on Facebook or/and Twitter or/and RSS feed!

P.S.: I don’t know the final price of the Zeiss 24mm f/2.0 lens. I hope it’s cheaper than the Sony 85mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T Lens!

POLL: Select the 5 Alpha mount lenses you want!

Share

Dear readers!
Your vote matters! Let Sony know what new Alpha lenses you want!

UPDATE: Keep voting until Monday! Invite your friends to vote. More we are more Sony will take us in consideration!

Some notes:
– Please read all the list before voting!
– You can choose a maximum of five lenses.
– Most of the times for the same focal lenght you have different aperture lenses. Usually fast lenses or Zeiss lenses will be very expensive. That’s why you also have slower lens options (if you are on budget or want smaller lenses select that option)
– If you voted a wrong lens contact me. I can change your vote
– The list is very approximative. I learned that everyone has different wishes and I can’t make a list with 300 lenses :) So if you don’t find the lens that exaclty fits your wish try to find a similar lens. What matters is that Sony understands what more or less people is waiting for.
– If I missed to add an important lens contact me. I will add it quickly!
– The list is ordererd by focal lenght (widest lenses on top)
– You can still suggest new lenses for the E-mount poll! The E-mount lens poll will follow in few days.

IMPORTANT: Our comment system has a bug. Not all comments will be displayed (but as administartor I can read them all). I still havn’t figured out how to fix that :(

I would prefer to get a...

(SR5) Good news! Sony will present the new Zeiss 24mm f/2 next Tuesday!

Share

Carl Zeiss lenses launched the message on Facebook!

Sony will present the new Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM next Tuesday. It is intended to appeal to experienced photographers looking for a large-aperture wide-angle lens of real distinction.
The Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM (SAL24F20Z) features the acclaimed Carl Zeiss Distagon design and rounds out the existing Planar (SAL85F14Z) and Sonnar (SAL135F18Z) models also developed in conjunction with Carl Zeiss. It functions as a wide-angle 24mm lens on full-frame cameras with 35mm sensors, or as a 36mm equivalent lens ideal for general use on cameras with APS-C sensors. Jointly developed with Carl Zeiss, it features the highly-regarded Carl Zeiss Distagon retro-focus lens configuration designed for wide-angle lenses.

Good news! I hope that it will soon be available for preorder!
