Right before the possible A35 announcmenet the discontinued [shoplink 3620]A33[/shoplink] gets reviewed at Steve Digicam’s: “We were impressed with the A33’s usability, image quality and performance oriented features during our testing, especially when you consider its attractive price point, and we have little doubt that this camera will appeal to a wide variety of photographers.

The A35 will bring only marginal improvements and the A33 is currently discounted here and there. So you might take a look at [shopcountry 3620] (Click on shop name) to get the A33 camera for cheap!

(SR5) Sony A77 has a 3 Megapixel OLED viewfinder (and probably for NEX too)

Share

We know have confirmation from our sources the A77 will feature a 3 Million dots OLED viewfinder. That more than double of the resolution fo the current [shoplink 3617]Sony A55/33[/shoplink] viewfinder. They have 1,4 Million dots (of which only 1,1 Million is used). We have no specific technical details about the new viewfinder but we were told that it has a higher refresh rate and a greater brightness too.

One more thing: the same viewfinder will be used for NEX cameras too. But the soruces didn’t tell me if that means there will be soon an optional external EVF or a camera with built-in EVF (?).

Sony A580, NEX-5 and Vivitar 85mm review

Share

[shoplink 6161][/shoplink]

Kurtmunger (Click here) tested the Vivitar 85mm f/1.4 lens: “The inexpensive [shoplink 6161]Vivitar 85mm F/1.4[/shoplink] turned in a darn good performance, making an medium telephoto 85mm F/1.4 accessible to cost-conscious people, as this wonderful lens is priced $1000 less than the [shoplink 6052]Sony CZ 85/1.4 planar[/shoplink]! How does the Vivitar stand up to the CZ, or [shoplink 5979]Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM[/shoplink]? I don’t have the CZ 85mm with me, but if memory serves me correctly(!), I think the CZ is sharper with better contrast at F/1.4, although I’m not sure about the mid-sections and corners, other differences can be culled from the Sony CZ 85mm F/1.4 review. The Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM is very similar to the Vivitar in sharpness“.

Thisweekinphoto (Click here) tested the Sony NEX-5: “Back to the one question I have not answered, does the NEX-5 replace my Alpha 850 as an everyday camera. Since I shoot so little with flash or in a studio these days  it really does, in fact I have let go of my A850 to a more deserving home already. I am not saying I wont own another DSLR or even the new Translucent Mirror Sony due out later this year, but I really like having a camera that is small and almost always on hand.

ThePhoBlographer (Click here) posted the complete Sony A580 review: “The a580 has performed masterfully in a variety of situations. It handled the hot, hot heat of Thailand and the confusing lighting of a concert in Brooklyn. It did well with sweaty hands and it recorded a number of videos in radically different locations with ease. The a580 is a prime choice, especially if you’ve got a bevy of great Minolta glass and if you’re not quite partial to the two SLTs, the a33 or a55.

A request to our sources: info about new NEX lenses needed.

Share

During the last weeks I recieved pieces of info from different sources about the future NEX lenses. I am trying to order them but I need a little bit of help. Those are the questions to my sources:

1) When is the Zeiss 24mm f/1.7 going to be announced?
2) Some of you sent me info about future lenses but without mentioning if those lenses are for E or A mount. Can you please add that info? An example is the 55-200mm lens someone told me about…
3) Sigma, Tamron and other third party lens makers are very likely to announce new NEX lenses. Some details about that?

Thanks a lot! :)

(SR4) Videocamera with built-in projector

Share

[shoplink 6148 ebay][/shoplink]
Image on top: The first camera with built-in projector, the [shoplink 6148 ebay]Nikon Coolpix S1000pj[/shoplink].

Ok ok, that’s not a Alpha related rumor but let’s post it anyway :)
Along the A35, NEX-C3, FS100 Sony will also announce three new videocameras. We have been told that one of the videocameras has built-in projectors. In the past we found a few patents describing such cameras so this should not be a big surprise.
What I am wondering is if that feature will sooner or later also become part of Sony digital cameras. I don’t know if you really care about that but Nikon already has such a camera: it is the [shoplink 6148 ebay]Coolpix S1000pj (Click here to see that cam)[/shoplink].

Stay tuned on SAR, the new NEX and SLT cameras are coming soon on April 4!

Sony A55 review at DigitalcameraHQ: “The A55 is a heck of a camera. It’s a first-gen product that Sony basically nailed; they’ve also stated publicly that all of their future dSLRs will be based around pellicle mirrors, so while the A55 is the top dog in the SLT lineup at the moment, there will be a clear upgrade path in the future, probably even up to a full-frame shooter. As we said at the top of the review, we whole-heartedly recommend the A55, the first time we’ve ever done so with a Sony dSLR.”

(SR1-SR2) Unbelieveable rumor: Medium format camera from Sony?

Share

[shoplink 6136][/shoplink]

Two of my sources sent me info about a “Mystery cam“. But…there is a “but”! But they wanted me to post the rumors with SR1 value only (see bottom of the post to see what it means). This because they got the “feeling” there could be an error inside the info they received. They sent me a few detail about the mystery cam I want to check before to post here. What I can tell you know now is that the camera has a high resolution sensor. From the info I got it looks like it could be a medium format camera a la [shoplink 6136]Leica S2 (Click hee to see that cam)[/shoplink].

I post the rumor in the hope some of my other trusted sources can tell me more about that and confirm the specs I got from the other two. Thanks!

And now the question to you. Does it make sense for Sony to make a new Medium Format system? Pentax recently entered the market with the [shoplink 6137 ebay]Pentax 645D (Click here to see that cam)[/shoplink]. With a sub $10.000 price that camera can compete against the high end Canon/Nikon fullframe cameras. Maybe Sony wants to go the same way? And there is also the fact that Kodak Imaging business isn’t doing well. If they stop to make medium format sensor will Sony take over the market? Those are just speculations….for now!

Check out the Pentax 645D specs and price at [shopcountry 6137].
Check out the Leica S2 specs and price at [shopcountry 6137].

Thanks to the two anonymous sources that sent me the info! Let’s hope we can soon figure out what’s the truth behind that story ;)
