Triple exotic lenses tested on the NEX cameras

Share

I found a bunch of nice third party lens reviews (tested on NEX cameras). Let’s start with the most expensive lens:

1) Leica 50mm f/0.95
Steve Huff (Click here) tested the $11,000 lens on the NEX-5. yes it’s not a typo…$11,000 or 10.000 Euro. Don’t believe me? See the scary auctions on [shoplink 6749 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. Got a heart attack? :)
That’s what he think about the combination: “This also made me wonder if there is anyone out there who bought an NEX-5 and a lens like the Noctilux to use with it. IMO, it would be a waste as the NEX sensor can not take full advantage of this masterpiece lens.

2) Panasonic 14mm f/2.5
EosHD (Click here) tested a Micro Four Thirds lens on the NEX-3. You wonder how that is possible? With that adapter you can find on [shoplink 6750 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].
EosHD says: “It covers the whole sensor just about with a slight light fall off. What’s interesting is just how extreme the distortion of the image is without the electronic image correction of Micro Four Thirds bodies. The optics really are very compromised on their own. But it’s a sharp lens, even wide open at F2.5 and very contrasty.

3) Contax Zeiss Distagon and Planar
SonyAlphaNex (Click here) tested a bunch of (awesome) Contax lenses on the NEX-5!

Ken Rockwell tests the NEX-VG10 (+ new A580 review at IR)

Share

[shoplink 3058][/shoplink]

The famous “starblogger” Ken Rockwell stopped at Sony and tested the NEX-VG10 (Click here to read the full review). He usually reviews Nikon or Canon stuff so let’s see what he thinks about the VG10: “It’s about time someone made a large-sensor video camera dedicated for the video market, and it’s about time that Canon and Nikon SLRs got put to bed for video. SLRs were never made for video, and Sony knows video cameras better than anyone.“…”For those of you looking mostly to make video, I consider this a much smarter buy than a DSLR, and the NEX-VG10 includes a great lens for video; no need to use the interchangeable lens feature.
Thanks Ken for posting a Sony review!

Imaging Resource (Click here) tested the Sony A580: “The only major fault we’d bring to the fore is the over-aggressive noise suppression in JPEG images, which strangely get worse in the red channel when you switch to Weak Noise Reduction mode. But there’s no arguing with our printed results, which show the Sony A580 able to produce good quality 20×30-inch prints from Large Fine JPEG images from ISO 100 to 400, and even the highest setting of 12,800 produces a good quality 5×7-inch print.

Sony removes the website with username and password for the C3-A35 manuals

Share

It is not a suprise that Hackers got access to the credit card data of Playstation useres. Our readers found the official Sony article that did contain the username and password to access the C3 and A35 manual directory! I guess Sony has a lot of work to do to safe their websites. And I hope they will manage to do that as soon as possible. Anyway I am writing that article because (finally!) Sony removed that page: http://www.sony.cz/article/id/1091522716812.

The only thing we don’t knwo now about those cameras are WHEN they are going to announce them. Let’s hope it will be soon!

Nikon will delay the mirrorless camera, D700 and D4 announcement. One more chance for Sony to gain market shares?

Share

Before you read: Nikon makes amazing products and I want them to recover as soon as possible. It’s very important for their employees and for their families. I will cross the finger for them and for all other Japanese companies! So please don’t misunderstand the following article. We are only talking about a possible future market share shift (from a “cold” marketing perspective, no fanboy thinking here!). A big hug to all Nikon employees!!!

According to (reliable!) sources from Quesabesde Nikon delayed the announcement of the mirrorless cameras because of the problems conected with the Sendai plant that has been shut down after the earthquake. Quesabesde doesn’t expect any new mirrorless camera (and No D700 and D3 replacement) before October!!!

A few days ago USA TODAY said that with the shortages in cameras, due to the crisis, “The opportunity for Sony, Olympus and even Samsung to grow a little market share in the next few months is clearly out there“. And also Thom Hogan said ”Sony’s inventory problems had been somewhat the opposite of Nikon’s: most items have been in plentiful stock, partly because they’re not as efficient as Nikon in getting a customer in a store asking for something. So, yes, USAToday’s basic premise is correct: if sales shift away from Nikon, Sony should gain.”

And on top of that Sony suprised us all with a huge Instant Rebate action in US which could put Canon and Nikon under pressure (A wonder why we europeans can never enjoy such nice offers):
-$50 on the A580 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H and J&R.
-$50 on the A55 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
-$50 on the A33 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
-$50 on the NEX-5 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
-$50 on the NEX-3 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

From what I know Sony will introduce plenty of amazing new products in 2011. You can bet on it! We expect 4-5 Zeiss lenses for Alpha, new G lenses, the Zeiss 24mm f/1.7 for NEX, 2-3 other Sony NEX lenses, Sigma and Tamron lenses, the A77, the NEX7, the NEX-C3 and NEX-C5 and the A35. yes that only in 2011! And what about fullframe cameras? Don’t worry, Sony will surprise us in 2012 ;)

Place your bet:

I say it once again: The best for all of us is that Nikon and Canon can recover soon. Best for the japanese companies, for employees and for the simple marginal reason that competition forces the companies to create even more amazing products!

It’s slower in RAW:
