(SR3) New Sony A77/NEX-7 EVF made by Samsung?

Share

A source told me an interesting background story. According to him the A77 uses an “Active Matrix-OLED with RGB pattern” and it is made by ….Samsung!

It is using the new 5.5 Generation factory and using the new laser technology instead Fine Metal Mask that was used before in all the Samsung OLED. The new laser tech allow Samsung make higher resolution displays (many new smartphones and tablets are coming with HD reolution this year). Also they are using a new green organic material PHOLED (they already are using the red PHOLED in the OLED displays.)”
Sony and Samsung are working together in this new display and it is probably that Samsung uses it too.
The technical features are under embargo and it won´t be available until 2012, but the display is big compared with other high resolution displays, it is around 0.9″ diagonal size and 4:3 form factor, but can be adapted to 3:2 and 16:9.

Thanks source for sending me that! Like those kind of insider stories ;)

Image on top shows the excellent and cheap [shoplink 22691 ebay]35mm f/1.8[/shoplink] lens from Sony

Techradar (Click here) posted a new Sony A35 review: “In terms of performance, the SLT-A35 is highly responsive, while image quality – whether you’re shooting JPEGs and/or RAW files – is equally as impressive. When it comes to finding fault with this camera, there’s little for us to complain about“.

ThePhoBlographer (Click here) wrote an article about “The Best Lenses for Sony Alpha Mount DSLRs Under $300“. He tested the 50mm f/1.8, the 35mm f/1.8 and the 30mm f/2.8 macro lens. All three lenses are available at:

(SR4) An NEX-7 hands-on report and NEX-5N info

Share

There are two rumors coming from Asia and from sources I know well.

1) Hong Kong Sonysdf (Click here to read the english translation).

According to the source the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 has a nice Bokeh but corner sharpness wide open is not on very top high level. The NEX-7 feels larger than the [shoplink 5502]Leica M9[/shoplink]! It is also rather heavy, whilst it feels extremely solid in hands and is well built. It has direct and professional controls;

UPDATE: I got this info from one of my sources in Hong Kong but I now saw it has been posted at RiceHigh a couple of hours before I posted it (the post was scheduled while I was working). So here is the link to Ricehigh.

2) Thailand Fotorelax (Click here to read the google english translation).

The NEX-5N has a “Capacitive Touch Screen“.
