A photoshoped Samyang Tilt Shift lens. But the real lens will arrive soon :)

On March 13th Sony will have a big announcement but in the meantime also third party companies are active on the lens front. Megapiksel (via PR) posted that image of the upcoming new 24mm f/3.5 Tilt-Shift lens fro Samyang. It will be available for Alpha mount.

And SLR magic just released the new 28mm Bokehmorphic Toy Lens for the NEX system. You can buy it for $125.00 on [shoplink 11710 ebay]eBay (Click here to check it out)[/shoplink].

(SR5) Also a new 70-200mm II G lens is on the new roadmap!

Yesterday I told you about Sony’s plan to create a new line of lenses that will be weather sealed and have new improved lens design. The first of the new “II G” line up will be the 70-400mm zoom. Today a couple of sources confirmed that Sony will also update the current [shoplink 11712 ebay]70-200mm f/2.8 lens[/shoplink]. While I am pretty sure the 70-400mm II G lens will arrive soon I have no info yet WHEN the 70-200mm II G will be released.

P.S.: Links to the current 70-200mm lens at [shoplist 11712].

Reminder: There is a Sony announcement on March 13th. Stay tuned here on SAR!

Unexpected high demand for the Zeiss 24mm (shortages!)

Share

[shoplink 8450][/shoplink]

You guys are buying too many Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 lenses for your NEX camera and that’s why Sony Japan issued an official statement to say that they have no such lens anymore :)

In USA it’s out of Stock in all major stores like at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). And in Europe it’s hard to find. This on more time proves that good lenses will sell well even if the price isn’t really low.  I hope this will push Sony to release more of such exceptional lenses!

(SR5) More bits about the new 70-400mm II G lens (and hints about a surprise)

Share

The new 70-400mm will be white like the just announced 500mm lens you see here on top

My (awesome!) sources contacted me to share some more details about the new lens. First I can safely put an SR5 value on that rumor. And this is actually a very new version of the older [shoplink 11687]Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens[/shoplink] lens. It has following new features:
1) The new II version is weather sealed!
2) It has new coatings.
3) It comes in white like the current super expensive 500mm f/4.0 lens (over $12.000 on BH).

But the changes are deeper than you think. The 70-400mm II G lens will actually be the first lens of a complete new Alpha lens line up! And that includes ONE single surprise I cannot unveil yet because I am  still trying to get some more info. But it is a surprise many of you will like. So please stay tuned on SAR. And if you can help me to find out more about the upcoming announcement sent me an email at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com or use the anonymous contact form on the right sidebar.

Thanks!

(SR4) New 70-400mm G lens will be announced soon!

[shoplink 11687][/shoplink]

Image on top: The current Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens (not the upcoming new version!).

According to one of our top sources Sony is about to announce a new updated version of the current [shoplink 11687]Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens[/shoplink]. He didn’t unveil me what kind of changes the update will bring. But he is pretty sure it’s going to be announced within the next weeks.
Current lens price and specs can be found here: [shopcountry 11687].

March 13th announcement: A part of the A57, the 70-400mm updated lens and probably a new NEX-F3 camera I think there will be more new stuff coming. I got more info about other lenses but I still don’t know yet if all those new lenses will be announced on the same day or the months later. So if you have some “secret info” to share help me and send me your rumor using the anonymous contact form on the right sidebar. Thanks!

New NEX-7 review by Kurt Munger. Great A77 pics in Mongolia!

Share

Today I am happy to link to articles and reviews of three of the friends I met through the work on SAR.

1) Remy shot his very first fine-art work with the A77 in Mongolia. Here are three links where you can check out his work (same fotos just different websites): Fubiz.netFstoppers.com and Behance.net. Great portraits!!!

2) It’s always a pleasure to link to a new Sony review from Kurt Munger. And today it’s even more interesting to check his website because of his final NEX-7 review (Click here to read it).

3) My friend Mike Kobal (Click here) is shooting model stuff with the NEX-7. He will post one model NEX-7 video per month :)

Especially the great pictures of Maxime makes me remind that I have to post more of such stuff on SAR. We should know what pros can do with our cameras! So if you find some wort to mention work please feel free to send me a message and I will post it here!
