Need a spy camera? Sony NEX with Samyang 500mm lens!

You own a Sony NEX camera but you need a spy camera to look into your neighborhoods houses? That lens is also much more expensive ($749.00 at Amazon right now).

(SR4) Sony A950 (tentative name) to be announced in 12-16 months.

According to SonyAlphaRumors sources the next A900 successor should be announced in a little bit more than one year. The A950 (tentative name) will be announced a few months after the new Nikon High-end camera which will use the same new high-resolution sensor (over 30 Megapixels!). I was told that Sony has two possible release dates. One by end 2011 and one by early 2012. Why two released dates? Because Sony still didn’t decide if the camera will be a classic DSLR or use the [shoplink 3617]translcuent technology[/shoplink]. They need feedback from photographers to understand if a translucent camera would be accepted from professionists.

So should we help them a little bit? Please answer only if you really want to buy the FF camera! Invite your friends to vote and comment the rumor…Sony is reading us!

One more thing:
One of my trusted sources sent me the link to an older A900 successor rumor written by wedding photographer Marc Williams. The source told me that Marc is very close to the real final A950 specs! Here is what Marc wrote: photo.net that “Sony is a late bloomer, and strong rumors indicate mind boggling innovations are on the horizon … notably a 35 meg camera with a top shutter speed of 1/12,000th and a true flash sync speed of 1/1000th.”

The very first [shoplink 4628]Micro Four Thirds to NEX lens adapter[/shoplink] is for sale on eBay! That makes it even easier for current Micro Four Thirds user to switch over to the Sony NEX system. The only prolem will be the different sensor size. I suspect Micro Four Thirds lenses will heavily vignette on Sony sensors because of the larger sensor.

The spanish website Quesabesde tested the new NEX-VG10. Their conclusions? They have some mixed feelings about the camera. They miss some features that would make it a more professional tool. But that’s why Sony is working on a new NEX-VG20 ;)

Sony financial results (less money with more cameras)

The new Sony financial report shows that the sales of gigital imaging products declined by 2.1% to 162.5 billion yen (about 1.46 billion €), although the digital camera sales rise to 6.2 million units (of the order of 1 million shares, or nearly 20% more than in Q2 09). The cause of that decline are the decreased sales prices. The [shoplink 3003]Sony NEX[/shoplink] cameras pushed the unit sales.
The annual forecast for digital camera sales leaves Sony unchanged at 23 million units.
