New NEX-7 review by Kurt Munger. Great A77 pics in Mongolia!

Share

Today I am happy to link to articles and reviews of three of the friends I met through the work on SAR.

1) Remy shot his very first fine-art work with the A77 in Mongolia. Here are three links where you can check out his work (same fotos just different websites): Fubiz.netFstoppers.com and Behance.net. Great portraits!!!

2) It’s always a pleasure to link to a new Sony review from Kurt Munger. And today it’s even more interesting to check his website because of his final NEX-7 review (Click here to read it).

3) My friend Mike Kobal (Click here) is shooting model stuff with the NEX-7. He will post one model NEX-7 video per month :)

Especially the great pictures of Maxime makes me remind that I have to post more of such stuff on SAR. We should know what pros can do with our cameras! So if you find some wort to mention work please feel free to send me a message and I will post it here!

Our reader David (Thanks!) made this very interesting AF speed comparison between the [shoplink 8452]NEX-5n[/shoplink] 1.01 and 1.00 firmware. He tested the speed on both 18-55mm and 16mm lenses and as you can see the speed improvement is significant!

(SR5) Invitation for the Sony March 15th presentation spotted!

Share

And now it’s official! As we told you weeks ago Sony will have a new “special presentation” on March 15th. Our reader David found that invitation from Sony UK. From what we heard Sony will announce new Cameras AND Lenses on March 13th (two days earlier). So this event may be related to the new stuff. The Sony A57 with 16 Megapixel will arrive for sure, probably a new NEX-F3 too and than new Alpha lens(es?). I am working on details about the upcoming announcements and will post more info the next days.

Canon 5DmarkIII announced (what’s to like or not to like?)

Share

Canon just announced the camera that will be THE direct competitor of the upcoming A99 SLT camera. A camera news coverage is available via my friend Frank from CanonWatch (Click here). Preorders with price and specs info are available at Amazon (Click here).

At first glance I have to say I am surprised to see so little innovation inside the markIII. I mean, there are many small improvements and some more major improvements (like the new AF system). But I think the Nikon D800 (and D800E) did more.

I bet the A99 will be cheaper than the 5D, have a faster AF in video and be on par in terms of RAW image quality. But what in your opinion should Sony “copy” from the new Canon 5DmarkIII?

(SR5) Short super good news. New lenses coming for Alpha and NEX!

Share

Just came back at home and found some good news in my mailbox (via trusted sources). New Alpha and NEX lenses are coming soon! At least one lens for each system…but there could be more. I am still working to get full details of the lenses. Spread the word guys! Tonight may be a Canon night, but the Sony time is coming soon too ;)
