Maybe it’s just me but I am no big fan of the Megapixel race. So it’s good to hear from another of my trusted sources that Sony will use a 16 Megapixel sensor within the upcoming new A37 and NEX-F3. It is the same sensor of the current [shoplink 7419]A35[/shoplink] and [shoplink 7207]NEX-C3[/shoplink] but I have been told that there is anew BIONZ processor that improves the image quality. Let’s hope it’s true! That said the A37 will have a similar A35 design and same price of the current model. The NEX-F3 will be completely new and “innovative“.

Two more NEX-FS700 videos!

Share

I think Sony did a great work by releasing the new NEX-FS700. It is getting a lot of positive response on the web and from film makers (I am a film maker!). The video on top is made by Sony with the Sony NEX-FS700. And there is one more video at Studiodaily (Click here). While the camera is great what we are missing are dedicated video lenses with powerzoom, smooth aperture rings and so on. As long as these are missing it will be hard to jump on the E-mount camera :(

All I can say via my sources is that Sony knows that and that they are working on it :)

Sony A57 firmare update and new first impression review

Share

If you own the A57 you can now update the firmware for SLT A57 at Sony UK (Click here). This utility updates the SLT-A57 firmware to version 1.02 , and provides the following benefits:

  1. Improved performance of AF in Continuous Advance Priority AE Mode (both Tele-zoom 12fps and10fps) under some specific conditions.

Digitalcamerainfo (Click here) posted the A57 first impression review: “In our time with the camera, though, we were seriously impressed by the A57’s sheer speed. It’s something we’ve come to expect from Sony’s line of SLT interchangeable lens cameras, but you never really get tired of hearing that shutter click more than 10 times every second. That the camera also continuously focuses during shooting (with moderate success) only enhances the feat.

The camera itself is already in Stock at Amazon (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and in Europa at Amazon UK (Click here), Amazon Germany (Click here) and Amazon France (Click here).

(SR5) NEX and Alpha camera and lens announcement in mid May!

Share

According to top sources Sony will have a new product announcement in mid May! There will be a new NEX-F3 (which I have been told is a great camera), a new A37, and two new zoom lenses (one for Alpha and one for NEX). I am particularly curious about that NEX-F3 that I have been told could become a real hotseller. Very small and sexy and a top image quality. Can’t wait to see it!

For those of you (that like me) are waiting for Full Frame news there will be no official Sony info. What Sony is doing is sharing some “unofficial” news with top photographers, dealers and journalists. And I hope reliable specs about the final A99 will spread through the web soon!

Stay tuned on SAR!

(SR5) Sony NEX-F3 with 180 degrees LCD!

Share

Picture on top: The 180 degree LCD from the Samsung MV800.

First NEX-F3 info from trusted sources are coming in! The new NEX-F3 is coming soon and it will replace the current NEX-C3. Some NEX-C3 kits have been already marked as discontinued at BHphoto (Click here), Digitalrev (Click here) and very low in Stock at Amazon (Click here). P.S.: Thanks to the anonymous sources for sending me this.

One of the big new features coming with the new NEX-F3 is a special 180 degree LCD that works almost exactly like the current Samsung MV800 (image on top). Perfect for taking self portraits. I have no image of the camera yet but I hope sources can send me some pics soon. Or maybe you reader can help me to find some leaked image on Sony’s websites? Search for “Sony NEX-F3” images! Thanks for the help! :)

New NEX-7 versus X PRO1 versus E-M5 versus GXR.

Share

The video on top is made by Kai from Digitalrev and shows a NEX-7 versus Fuji X PRO 1 and Olympus E-M5 comparison.

Bmupix (Click here) tested the Voigtlander 12mm f/5.6 on the NEX-7 and Ricoh GXR. As you know the NEX-7 really needs high quality lenses and particularly the image borders risk to degrade much more than on other cameras with lower resolution sensor. Björn Utpott writes: “Comparing the 24 megapixel crops, it’s obvious that the NEX-7’s native 24 megapixel sensor is capturing more fine detail in the central area of the frame. As you move to the edge of the frame, the output from the GXR starts to match (or even exceed?) the resolving power of the much higher resolution NEX-7.
The Voigtlander lens can be found on [shoplink 12363 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

SonyAlphaRumor friend Mike Kobal (Click here) made a short NEX-7 versus Fuji X PRO 1 comparison.

Despite all buzz around the new X PRO and E-M5 the most sold mirrorless cameras at Amazon US remains the NEX-7: Amazon US (place 1), Amazon Germany (place 2), Amazon France (place 9) and at Amazon UK (18). Result do change hourly!
