Time to make a new A77 recap!

Buy-n-Shoot (Click here) wrote a short A77 review. It earns the Platinum award…this means it doesn’t get any better! The reviewer says: “No matter which way you look at this camera it takes the cake!
Our friend Mike Kobal (Click here) is spending his time in the slum of Kibera (Nairobi) and is using the A77 for his work: “My first time in Africa and I am totally blown away by what I have seen so far. I am pleased to let you know, so far, the A77hasn’t let me down in this hot and dusty environment (approx 3K shots). I will try to update this post, however internet access is limited and very slow.

Cameta has three NEX-7 for sale via auction on eBay:
[shoplink 10800 ebay]First ending camera auction (Click here)[/shoplink].
[shoplink 10801 ebay]Second ending camera auction (Click here)[/shoplink].
[shoplink 10802 ebay]Third ending camera auction (Click here)[/shoplink].
+ there is another one sold by [shoplink 10803 ebay]pal0028 (Click here)[/shoplink].

The NEX-7 is finally shipping to Europen stores too. Francois for example sent me this: “I had a phone call from Paris Sony Store yesterday. They have a few units of Nex7 (body only) available from the first production batch as they told me. I’m going to pickup one today. They agree to make a deal for an additional 18-55 lense for the price of the kit. Just to be precise, I had no preorder.“. I also got a similar news about Sony Germany store. Echenique.com also got his NEX-7 :)

Check for other preorder options (if available) at [shopcountry 8454].

And Nauticam announced the development of a new NEX-7 underwater housing. To read the full press release click that link:

(SR4) Sony “approves” the launch the new hybrid AlphaNex mount camera (sort of fullframe NEX-7!)

Share

It’s Christmas time and I have to give you some sort of nice present ;)

One of the most requested cameras is the fullframe version of the NEX-7. And I have good news for you…although the camera will be much different than you expected!
A couple of sources confirmed that Sony will launch a hybrid AlphaNex mount camera in 2012! Also external sources (like here on Xitek) got the same news. The main goal of that new camera is to unify both worlds, the Alpha and NEX. These are the characteristics of the camera:
– Alpha mount camera with built-in compatible E-mount (no-external adapter needed!). Current NEX lenses will work in “crop mode”.
– Full Frame sensor.
– [shoplink 8454]NEX-7[/shoplink] alike design, just a bit bigger.
– Built-in new generation OLED viewfinder
– global shutter

It’s also important for you to know that there will not be a Full Frame E-mount camera. That AE hybrid camera will be the “fullframe NEX” camera we are waiting for. The camera is already available in different prototypes. So specs can still change but the concept as a whole has been approved and will hit the market in 2012. I guess it will be announced in September at Photokina.

I still don’t know how this hybrid mount works but as I told you weeks ago an idea like that has been already realized with the Zeiss Ikon Contax I, II and III that can still be found [shoplink 10295 ebay]here on eBay[/shoplink].

NEX is the best choice (Dpreview). Plus new NEX-5n reviews.

DPReview (Click here) posted a mirrorless cameras roundup. And for each category you can see that NEX cameras are having the highest scores:
Highest score beginner mirroless camera: Sony NEX C3 (Price check: [shopcountry 7207])
Highest score intermediate camera: SONY NEX 5n (Price check: [shopcountry 8452])
Highest score advanced camera: SONY NEX 7 (Price check: [shopcountry 8454])

DigitalPhotographySchool (Click here) posted the full NEX-5n review: “Image quality is superbly sharp and fully colour saturated. But attaching the lens make the combo a largish proposition.
I was also a little startled to see the PDF manual erroneously claim the CMOS sensor carried 14.2 megapixels, when it actually has a 16.1 million pixel population. Makes a reviewer’s life tough!“.

Craig: “I was wondering if you’d be interested in viewing and possibly sharing a gallery of images shot with my Sony NEX 5N with a [shoplink 10786 ebay]Voigtlander Color-Skopar 21mm f/4[/shoplink] Pancake lens to help your readers ‘see’ what this wonderful camera and lens can do in ALL KINDS of situations. I’ve owned the camera and lens now for just under two months.

Metthew Belcher (Click here) posted a Zeiss 24mm DOF test made with the NEX-5n.

The black Sony NEX-5 with 18-55mm kit lens sells for $499 only at Amazon (Click here). And I noticed that the camera is the most sold camera for a very long time now at Amazon (Click here to see the ranking).
