24 hours from Sony’s DDAY! A message to all of you!

Share

Dear readers,

On October 20 2010 I posted the first correct rumor about the A77 saying it would be translucent and feature a new 24 Megapixel sensor. And now finally we can see the real camera in less than 24 hours!

Live on SAR tomorrow:
Tomorrow morning (at around 6-7-8am London time) you can follow the announcement on SonyAlphaRumors. Here are some things you should know:
1) If for some reasons the website will crash I will post all news on MirrorlessRumors.com ….yes even if the A77 is not an Mirrorless camera :)
2) As you know I will sum up all news, reviews image samples and so on in a single article which will be continually updated. But pleas do not reload the page every single minute. be a bit patient. Help me to not make crash this website!
3) Feel free to help me by sending the links to interesting news and reviews you can find on your web! Please always send me the links to the original source and nto the text only! Thanks!

Apology: I confess the last days have been very busy for me. I am quite exhausted because I really had to watch for news every hour and it was hard to work on my real job and on SAR contemporaneously. That’s why I need to apologize for…
1) not answering all your emails
2) not having time to follow some of the discussions on SonyAlphaRumors
3) my more than usual poor written English (As you know I never learned English)

Thanks: The most exciting and surprising experience I had were not the Sony leaks, but the many many people from all over the world that helped me by sending news and rumors, links to articles, reviews and images. During the last weeks I have been in touch with so many nice people that I really have been overwhelmed by so much help! I guess the real value of this website are the network of people that it has created allowing SAR readers to get quick news and rumors about Sony stuff. That’s why I send a BIG HUG to all those that were so kind to be part of that adventure. And that positive feeling makes me want to keep working on that website for a long time! Thanks!!!

One more thing: The future rumors: The same sources that gave me correct info about all the new Sony cameras are already sending me bits of info about the next DDAY in 2012. The event will be important for everyone seeking full frame cameras and lenses. And that will be the new rumor adventure we will have to go the next months. As I said, there are at least three new FF cameras coming and the new lens quantity is much bigger!

Thanks!
Andrea (exhausted but happy)

Sony NEX-C3 triple review (including DPreview) and new A35 review.

Share

[shoplink 7207][/shoplink]
The Sony NEX-C3 is getting heavily tested by the most important review websites! And before you get submerged by the upcoming A77 and NEX-7 news and reviews take a look at those articles:

Yesterday DPreview (Click here) posted their NEX-C3 article. The camera gets the “Silver Award” with an overall score of 74%. It is the same score of the Olympus E-P3 but the NEX-C3 has a better image quality and is cheaper!
Also Photographyblog (Click here) tested the NEX-C3: “While usability has been improved, with a number of customisable controls, the NEX-C3 is still best suited to the beginner rather than the more confident prosumer, who will bemoan all the button pressing that’s required. ” The camera gets recommended with a rating of 4 of 5 stars.
The last review is from Whatdigitalcamera (Click here): “The C3’s new sensor is a success, images look great and the camera’s smaller design looks the part too. The price is held at a very reasonable sub-£450 point and there’s very little not to like bar some control issues.

There is also a new Sony Alpha 35 review at Techradar (Click here): “In terms of performance, the SLT-A35 is highly responsive, while image quality – whether you’re shooting JPEGs and/or RAW files – is equally as impressive.
SonyAlphaLab (Click here) tposted some A35 image samples.

(SR5) And here are new A65 pictures

Share

You can’t rest for a moment in these days! The dpreview forum user named Stratross posted a set of A65 pictures. Are those leaks real? Of course! As usual click on the image to enlarge the size!

As you know the A65 shares the same 24 Megapixel sensor of the A77. The only differences are:
A77 has 19 point AF system with 11 cross sensors while the A65 has only 3 cross sensors.
A77 can do 12 fps while the A65 can do 10fps.
A77 has new 3 way tilting LCD, A65 has “classic” tilting LCD
A77 can do 50 ISO while A65 can not.
The A77 has a magnesium body while the A65 has not.
The A77 has 1/8000 shutter while A65 has a 1/4000 shutter
The A77 has a top LCD screen while the A65 has it not.
The A77 is Dust and Moisture proof while the A65 is not

(SR5) More new A77 leaks and NEX-7 render

This is never going to end! There is a new set of leaked images found via DChome! The most interesting image is the new NEX-7 reander (it doesn’t look like a real NEX-7 image). Below you can find the A77 picture. Click on them to enlarge the image!

P.S.: Meanwhile the german website that yesterday posted those nice A77 image had to remove the images from his website.

(SR5) A77 comment by sources

Share

And here are two more A77 reports coming from two sources:

Source_1: I can confirm the A77 pictures are real – they match the unit I’m holding in my hands now. FYI, the 16-50 is a mixed metal/plastic lens, like the [shoplink 6050]CZ 24-70[/shoplink]. Autofocus is as fast and quiet as the 24-70. As for the D-range button, the buttons on the A77 are massively customizable, you can assign a different function to each! And the smart teleconverter can be switched to a 100% live view magnification.

Source_2: I am just looking at a few pics taken with the [shoplink 6050]CZ 24-70[/shoplink] and the new sensor. So crispy it tears our eyes out plus a bit of moire…now we know why those expensive lenses are are there :) With 24 Megapixel the pictures also look more “wide eyed” and “deeper”.

Reminder: Sony will announce all the new stuff on Wednesday August 24! This includes the A77, A65, 16-50 f/2.8 lens, vertical grip for the A77, NEX-7, NEX-5N, BG20, Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 for E-mount, 50mm f/1.8 OSS for E-mount, 55-210mm OSS for E-mount and new external EVF for the NEX-5N. Be sure to be online at SAR to follow the Sony announcement!

Support this site: I am having a lot of fun to work on SAR. I don’t use dozens of banners and I don’t get paid by any company to do what I do. All the work you see here is made by me during my free time. If you want to help me to cover the monthly server costs there is an easy way: Click on affiliate links you see on that website like [shopcountry 3028] to buy whatever product you want (it doesn’t have to be a camera) and I will earn a small commission from it. You don’t pay any penny more on the items you buy and at the same time you support SonyAlphaRumors without me having to put 100 banners on my website. Cool or not? Thanks :)
