Almost exactly one year ago Sony launched the high quality [shoplink 8450]Zeiss 24mm f/1.8[/shoplink] E-mount lens. And at least in US that lens is still hard to find in Stock (and for the normal price!). You can now get a couple of them with Filter and Cleaner kit via [shoplink 13655 ebay]Beachcamera eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. There is no way to get it for less. Right now the price is $1249 at Amazon (Click here).

Also today the NEX-5R didn’t manage to get significant preorders at Amazon (here is the ranking). My guess is that most of us are waiting for the new NEX-6 which features a 2,4k integrated viewfinder and for the rest the exactly same specs as the new NEX-5R.

On top: Real Sketch of the A99.

Trusted sources confirmed that the price of the A99 body only should be around 2800 Euro/Dollars. There will be slightly variations form country to country but this is the price you should expect! This is about 600 Euro/Dollar cheaper than the Canon 5DmarkIII (price and specs here) and $200 cheaper than the Nikon D800 (price and specs here). What you should expect is not only a nice camera but a full system with plenty of useful and innovative accessories!

(SR5) UPDATED: First leaked picture/video of the new Sony A99!

Share

UPDATE: Under the request of the youtube video owner I had to remove the screenshot of the videos. The video itself aslo has been removed from youtube.com. At least this is a proof that this was indeed the new A99.

—-

An anonymous reader just sent me a link to the video. It shows the National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita in Yellowstone. The anonymous reader said the Hot Shoe looks different from the [shoplink 8461]Sony A77[/shoplink] and this camera may be the real A99. Watch the video onThe A77 uses a smaller Minolta Hot Shoe while the A99 will use a standard Hot Shoe. The lens should be the Zeiss 16-35mm f/2.8 UDPATE: Michael Yamashita itself posted a short message on Instagram (Click here) saying “shooting for Sony“.

Important UPDATE: it is the A99! Just check that picture found via Twitter. Click on it to enlarge. You see the “A99” writing on the strap? Lol! :)

Here are some images of the A77 hot shoe (Credit BHphoto). Click on it to enlarge:

Gossip time! Carlos Boozer buys the Sony A77 :)

SAR reader Sean sent me this image and message: “Hey! I love your site to death, and I thought some readers might enjoy this. NBA star Carlos Boozer just bought an [shoplink 8461]A77[/shoplink] from my store in Chicago. Viva alpha!

I hope Carlos will not go mad when he will discover that the A99 is coming out soon. He should become a SAR reader too :)

Sony NEX-5R to ship from October 21. For now NEX-5N beats the NEX-5R in USA (pre)orders.

Share

Don’t know how reliable that info is but the largest worldwide online store Amazon just notified that the NEX-5R will start to be shipped from October 21th (Click here ot visit the product page). Anyway, not many of us seems to have ordered the new camera as it didn’t even manage to reach the top hundred of the mirrorless camera (pre)order ranking (Click here). I guess most of us are waiting for the September 12th announcement when Sony will unveil the NEX-6!

The “older” NEX-5N is many times more sold than the newer NEX-5R because of the $100 discount at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto(Click here).
