NEX hack: 46Mbit bitrate in 1080p possible?

Share

Sony NEX hack by Someone 1.00 from Andrew Reid on Vimeo.

EosHD posted the video you see here on top to explain the possible future NEX camera hack. The author (and not the hacker!) of EosHD speculates that “46Mbit on the older NEX 5 without too much trouble and it is still early days yet, so we could see stuff like intra-frame recording and improvements to HDMI out, or even 4:2:2 colour in MP4 mode and higher resolutions.

Please don’t get too exited about this now. It’s all speculation and imagination now. Let’s see if the hacker group will succeed in releasing a real hacked firmware with lots of new features. I would be certainly happy because this means we would not have to wait for Sony to improve our NEX (and maybe SLT) cameras. And don’t forget that APP support is coming wih the next NEX camera…this is also a good news :)

(SR3) Sony announcement party on August 28th??? Follow SonyAlphaRumors!

Share

This rumor still hasn’t been confirmed by trusted sources but according to two anonymous messages I got the last 48hours the big Sony DDAY announcement is scheduled for August 28th! I hope trusted sources can confirm this within the next hours so that I can upgrade the rumor from SR3 to SR5. I am also not sure if this announcement is just for NEX or for NEX and the A99!

I also have been told that we should expect major leaks the days before the announcement. For now we know the A99 (with new flash and vertical grip and more), NEX-5R, NEX-6 are coming. On the lens front we could see a new 70-200mm, 300mm A mount lens (and maybe a 50mm prime) and on the NEX front I am sure we will have the new 11-18 and 16-50mm pancake(!) zooms and a new 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. I will write an exact roundup of all camera, lens accessories and features next week. Let’s hope Sony models will be as successful as the [shoplink 13014]Sony RX100[/shoplink] (on top of the rankings at Amazon US).

This means that you guys can’t afford to miss a single day on SonyAlphaRumors! And be sure to be online here on August 28th at between 5 and 7 am London time to follow the announcement live on SAR! Follow SAR RSS feed or follow me on Twitter and join the super friendly Facebook comunity! Share the news on your blog and your Sony (and Nikon LOL) community.

P.S: Let’s break the 6.000 likes barrier :)

Nikon D600 priced at 1500 Euro. Canon 5DmarkIII at 3000 Euro. What price is right for the A99?

Share

The Canon 5DmarkIII is the one camera to beat for the A99. But the D600 will set a new low price for FF cameras.

A source just told us that indeed Nikon will announce the Nikon D600 FF camera by end of this month. And the price will be around 1.500 Euro for the Body Only and it will use the same 24 Megapixel Sony sensor that will be used for the A99. The A99 is rumored to be priced somewhere between 2.500 and 2.800 Euro. From what I know from the source the A99 has strong advantages compared to the D600 like weather sealed body, better video quality (and Phase detection AF while video recording), much faster frame rate (10/12 fps versus 3fps), more advanced control layout and so on. So it’s more appropriate to compare the A99 with the [shoplink 13204 ebay]Canon 5DmarkIII (price over 3000 Euro/Dollars)[/shoplink]…. But the question is…will the Nikon D600 be a problem for Sony? At what price would you buy the A99 instead of the D600 or Canon 5DmarkIII or Nikon D800? Be honest! :)

Would you buy a Minolta alike compact f/1.2 manual focus lens?

[shoplink 12933][/shoplink]
The [shoplink 12933]NEX-F3[/shoplink] flipping LCD will come with the NEX-5R.

This may be a bigger news than you think. The new NEX-5R and NEX-6 camera will have a “full Internet support”. Not only you can surf the we with it…It means you can sell Apps for the cameras! Imagine this! Custom APP with customized filters and features. If Sony really makes this than WOW! Don’t you think?

Would you consider to buy a new A6900 (or A7000) with 40Mp, 8K, IBIS and price of $2,000?

What’s the strategy behind the A99 (via Top Sources)

Share

I had many conversations with my top sources about the upcoming A99. It is very interesting to share the “philosophical” aspects behind the A99 release.

First the A99 is a result of a research made two years ago. Sony asked pro photographers and video makers how they should make the A99 in order to make it a successful camera. The main request was a camera that would have PRO Video quality and support. It should outclass the [shoplink 13195 ebay]5DmarkII[/shoplink] an the current 5DmarkIII in that matter. Sony managers and engineers than decided to develop not only an A99 with pro video quality recording but a whole system that can support the camera. So what we will see soon is not just a camera, but a new kind of thinking hybrid still and video in one system. The camera is more mature than the A77. It is all about af speed, video quality, fast and high resolution EVF technology, well thought accessories and clean image quality.

The new Hot shoe, the new Flash Light (with continuous LED light) the new battery grip are all newly developed with photography AND(!) film-making in mind. Maybe this will become the real first professional Full Frame hybrid camera that will bring us a step closer to the merging of the photo and video world.

I think Sony took a wise decision to follow this route. It’s the only way to break the Nikon and Canon hegemony in the Full Frame world. Now let’s hope the A99 can really acheive the goal. The devil as usual is in the detail. And Sony can’t afford to make any mistakes here!

That’s why you have to follow SAR RSS feed or follow me on Twitter and join the super friendly Facebook comunity! It’s going to be hell of rumors the next days and weeks! :)

P.S.: A higher resolution and more “photo” oriented FF camera will follow in 2013!
P.P.S.: As usal sorry for my bad english. But I hope you got the message!
