(SR5) Sony NEX goes Full Frame!!!!

This is a very short but almost revolutionary rumor…

I just learned via (many) trusted sources that the third revolution from Sony is about to happen. After the SLT and NEX introductions (first two revolutions) Sony is about to change the photographic and video industry with the third revolution… a new Full Frame NEX system!

I am now working on the details of that “revolution”. If all works fine I will have some news to post about it within the next days. I want to be 99% sure about what I am going to post here….so dear sources send me all the info you can at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com or use the anonymous contact form on the right sidebar…Thanks!

As usual with rumors keep your expectations low and be aware that this is a rumor based on mysterious sources and NON-facts. Keep also in mind that I have been told this is just a “Start” (whatever it means). But this may be the first time I believe Sony could seriously compete against Nikon and Canon and Leica in the Full Frame world. Canon C300? Nikon D800? Leica M9? Hmmm, Sony may (very) slowly catch them all :)

Stay tuned on SAR! Working within all my free time on rumors now! Please write precise questions within the comment system so that sources can read and answer them. I know the first question will be…is it possible to have a Full Frame sensor on a NEX mount? :)

Thank you all, a very tired and overworked Andrea (SAR admin).

Which one should Tamron make?

Sony announces the new NEX-EA50! And a new Power Zoom too!!!!

Share

Sony just released a new E-mount camcorder named NEX-EA50. It’s very similar to the NEX-FS100 but has a “more affordable price point than ever before” – about £2,700. The other very interetsing news is that for the first time Sony released an E-mount 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Power Zoom!!! It has continuous variable iris and Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation with Active Mode, which should give a more stable shot. lens is electronically controlled via either the zoom rocker lever on the camcorder grip or the top handle, offering either a constant zoom speed or smooth, slow zoom.

Features of the NEX-EA50:
– Exmor APS-C/Super35mm HD CMOS sensor is claimed to offer low noise and high sensitivity in low light conditions. It also enables 1080 progressive and interlace recording with 50/60Hz selection at 50p/25p/50i or 60p/30p/24p/60i. It records AVCHD 4:2:0 at up to 28Mbps.
– It will capture 16.1 megapixel still pictures with RAW format support.
– two-channel XLR audio (an ECM-XM1 Shotgun microphone is included with the NEX-EA50H); Linear PCM audio; time code; user bit; and built-in GPS.
– Sony’s HXR-FMU128 (128GB) flash memory unit can dock directly to the camcorder for simultaneous backup recording. The camcorder is also compatible with Sony’s new Mirroring Memory Stick (MS-PX64/32/16), the world’s first memory card with mirroring. This enables the card to deliver higher reliability and data security through a dual recording (mirroring) function. The PX Series cards will be available from September, in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions.

Sony NEX-F3 gets tested by Dpreview!

[shoplink 12933][/shoplink]
Short message to invite you to read the latest DPreview test of the NEX-F3. It earns a well deserved “Silver Award”: “It has great photo quality, a complete set of features, and snappy performance. The only thing I’d recommend is trying one out in person before you buy, as the user interface leaves much to be desired.

Look how the RX100 looks after a truck crash :)

Cheesycam video showing how ND or CPL filters will work when in use on the RX100

If you ever wondered how the RX100 will look “inside” than you might check out the Getdpi Forum (Click here) where Matix shows the pics of his RX100 after being hit by a Truck. Curious: “battery door and flash mechanism can handle it (the truck).”

Now back to a new review report. The well known “Popular Photo” Magazine posted the full RX100 test: “Even though we feel that the camera’s performance might have been better served keeping the pixel count down, we ended up with some great images.” According to their tests the camera takes good pictures from 100 up to 400 ISO. After that the image visibly deteriorates.

Meantime the RX100 remains a super hotseller at Amazon US (ranking here) and Amazon DE (ranking here). These are some direct RX100 price search links: [shopcountry 13014]. And the RX100 Gariz case is in Stock in [shoplink 13071 ebay]Black on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and in [shoplink 13073 ebay]Brown on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Wrap up: The full NEX camera and lens list. Announcement likely on August 28th.

Share

It looks like the August 28th announcement is mainly a NEX event. The A mount lenses and the A99 could be announced two weeks later in mid September. Here is a wrap up of all info we have from our trusted sources. This is what Sony will announce:

NEX-5R: Looks almost exactly like the [shoplink 8452]NEX-5n[/shoplink] and has the flip screen from the NEX-F3. It has a completely newly designed 16 Megapixel APS-C sensor with Phase Detection AF pixels. It has WiFi connectivity and APP support. You can surf on Internet with it. Price around $700 with kit lens.
NEX-6: It’s a mini [shoplink 8454]NEX-7[/shoplink] with integrated viewfinder. Compared to the NEX’7 it has an EVF with less resolution and a newly designed 16 Megapixel APS-C sensor (with Phase AF pixels?). It has WiFi connectivity. Price between the NEX-5R and NEX-7 (NEX-7 is currently priced at $1200 at Amazon so my guess is around $950 and $1000).
Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6: It is a pancake zoom. One “external” source (means not from SAR) says this is actually a non pancake f/2.8 constant aperture zoom.
Sony 11-18 f/4.0: UPDATE: It is not a pancake zoom!
Sony 35mm f/1.8: Fast non expensive prime lens as big as the Sigma 30mm lens.

Will you buy the new 135mm f/1.8 GM lens?
