50mm for NEX in Stock in US. A57 in Stock in USA (but Sony Japan says it’s delayed)

Share

It’s so hard to find the 50mm for NEX in US stores that this might be a good deal even if you have to pay a $50 extra for it! Pcnation is right now selling 13 of them through Amazon (Click here). If you still want it for $299 than you will have to wait 4-7 weeks (according to Amazon).

Meantime the A57 is in Stock at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and [shoplink 12322 ebay]Sonystore ebay (Click here)[/shoplink]. But Sony Japan keeps saying that it has been delayed and release date is April 27th ?!?!?!

(SR5) Two new zoom lenses will be announced soon (one is the 18-135mm for Alpha)

Share

Soon Sony will have a major product announcement day but it will not be particularly interesting when it comes to the new lenses. There will be two new zooms. One is the already leaked 18-135mm SAM lens and another zoom I don’t have the exact specs yet. So no primes and no fast lenses. Overall I got the “impression” Sony is facing some production issues. They still cannot produce enough 24mm Zeisss and 50mm (both for NEX) lenses. This may be one of the reasons for that unspectacular new announcement :(

Sony A57 in Stock at Amazon (and so the NEX-7).

Share

The new Sony A57 is right now in Stock at Amazon (Click here to grab it) and is the most sold Sony DSLR camera of the moment (here is the ranking). And both, the NEX-7 body only (Click here) and the NEX-7 witk kit lens (Click here) are also in Stock. And that is also the camera that makes it into the top 20 of all sold digital cameras, compact, mirrorless and DSLR.

P.S.: New Sony cameras will be announced soon. I am working to find out the right announcement date!

Nikon announces the A77 with optical viewfinder :)

Share

Nikon just unveiled the new Nikon D3200 which uses the same Sony 24 Megapixel sensor of the [shoplink 8461]Sony A77[/shoplink] sensor. It will be very interesting to see if there is any noticeable difference in terms of RAW image quality due the Sony’s transparent mirror and Nikon own “tweaks”. Price and specs info of the Nikon are up at Amazon (Click here). I guess DxOmark will soon test the camera and speaking of DxOmark they just published the Canon 5DmarkIII test. Why is it interesting? It has exactly the same score of the [shoplink 8454]Sony NEX-7[/shoplink]! CLick here to see the markIII versus NEX-7 comparison.

By the way, the 5DmarkIII shipment will very likely stopped soon (according to CanonWatch).

NEX-7 used by Google Co Founder (and new review at LL)

Share

The video on top is a extremely long discussion about the NEX-7. I didn’t know Sergey Brin from Google was using the NEX-7!

Luminous Landscape (Click here) re-evaluated the NEX-7 after a six months use: “This is the mirrorless camera that other manufacturers have to recon with, and for the moment is, in my opinion, one of the best available choices in a compact system camera for the serious photographer.

Full NEX-7 review at Stuckincustoms (Click here): “If you are a veteran DSLR shooter that is needs action-photography performance, low-light sharpness with excellent ISO performance, or the flexibility of a robust lens system, then the Sony NEX-7 may not be for you.

NEX-7 and A65 win TIPA award (NEX-7 in Stock)

Share

For US readers: Four new NEX-7 kits are now in Stock at Amazon (Click here).

The NEX-7 and A65 got the TIPA price award (Click here to see the website). The NEX-7 won the best expert mirrorless price. You may would think that the camera has beaten the main contender the Fuji X PRO 1…but this isn’t true. The Fuji won the Best Professional mirrorless camera category. I don’t get the difference between “expert” and “professional” category :)

The [shoplink 8459]A65[/shoplink] won within the category best advanced DSLR.

(SR4) Sony wants to price the A99 as low as possible. It’s a Full Frame A77 :)

Share

According to top sources the upcoming next Sony full frame cameras “main feature” will be the low price. What does it mean? There will be no new big special feature compared to the actual [shoplink 8461]A77 camera[/shoplink] (a part of course the bigger full frame sensor and improved EVF). Sony learned from the A77 customer reaction and improved many details. To me that sounds good! I don’t need new marketing bla bla features. The A99 should “just work”. The A99 will very likely feature a new 24 Megapixel full frame sensor. My suggestions? Improve the JPG engine, release the camera with a mature firmware (no more blackouts).

The Nikon D800 is priced at $2999 at Amazon and the new Canon 5DmarkIII at $3499 at Amazon. I think the Sony A99 should be priced at $2499 to compete against them! What do you think?
