(SR4) More info about the A58 sensor. Announcement next Monday?

Share

There seems to be a bit of a confusion around the exact announcement date for the A58 and NEX-3n. On Wednesday (Feb 20th) Sony will announce the new Playstation and also talk about the current Full Frame cameras (see the official Sony teaser video on top!). But the A58 and NEX-3n may be announced on Monday Feb 25ht. Anyway, the NEX-3n, the A58 and the three new A-mount lenses will be officially announced the next few days that’s sure!

I got some more bits from a hopefully reliable  ;) source:

1) He said the NEX-3n will cost $499 with the 16-50mm compact zoom.
2) The very new AF feature has to do with “tracking focus”.
3) The A58 has on step better ISO performance compared to rpevious generation APS-C sensors. If true this would be a very good news!!!

Thanks to the anonymous source! :)

sonya58-nex3n

Good Morning!

It may be hard for many to wake up on Monday and go back to work. But good for you I can tell you that you can keep visiting SonyAlphaRumors for the next weeks as plenty of news are coming via Sony.
Yesterday you saw the images from the new NEX-3n and the new A58 plus the three new A-mount lenses. I am still not sure about the announcement date although it should be this week on February 20th or by next week.

A particular interest may be the new A58 sensors that should be the first of a new generation sensor with High Dynamic Range.

And now the one more thing: I just heard about a second announcement to follow 2-3 weeks after that one with new E-mount stuff! So stay tuned on SAR. The show started!

(SR5) UPDATED: First images of the new Sony SLT-A58! And three new A-mount lens images too!

Share

A couple of days ago SAR (SonyAlphaRumors) leaked the first image of the new NEX-3n (article here). And we told you that a new A58 would come too. And here are the images via Digicaminfo! Both cameras should be announced soon (some say Sony may introduce them the same day of the Playstation presentation next week on Feb 20th). Anyway, what I am 90% sure of are these A58 specs:

– The A58 will have a 20 megapixel sensor capable of shooting at 8fps (frames per second). I have been told that the new sensor has an improved dynamic range over previous generation Sony sensors.
– The body has the same size as the current A57.
– It will have a brand new focusing system that he said is “very cool” (you may tell us more about it?)
– you will be able to control the camera from a computer (like all the Canons) but it wont have Wi-Fi.
– Price for the body is $599.

UPDATE: And here are the image sof the new Zeiss 50mmf /1.4SSM, the new updated 18-55mm II kit lens and the updated 70-400mm II zoom.

I love the manual focus versatility of the Sony NEX-7 camera, I got mine about 8 months ago and here’s why the NEX-7 makes photography fun again for me.

(SR4) UPDATED: Sony A58 Dynamic Range improvement confirmed.

Share

An anonymous Sony A58 tester just sent me an info that the new Sony sensor powering the upcoming A58 has indeed an improved dynamic range. He said he never was able to see so many details in the shadows. This all sounds very promising!

By the way, there is some uncertainty about the exact release date. But it should be announced next week and if not…then the week after.
