(SR4) NEX-7n launch postponed!

Share

According to three trusted sources Sony decided to postpone the NEX-7n launch. The new launch date is not set yet but I have been told it’s not that far away. I don’t know the reason why they delayed it…but I hope to have some more details soon.

UPDATE: Of course Sony itself hasn’t announced a NEX-7n release date yet so this isn’t an “official” delay. It’s all based on rumors we get from our sources :)

Very important: Back in late 2012 Sony removed the SLT-FF high end model from the 2013 roadmap. And now they delayed the NEX-7n. Sounds like Sony is slowing down the roadmap to convoy resources on the FF-NEX development. But that’s just my easy and probably unjustified guess.

Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor
SR2=rumor from unknown sources
SR3=50% chance it is correct
SR4=rumor from known sources
SR5=almost certainly correct!

First review of the first E-mount Full Frame lens: Rokinon 24mm T/1.5!

ThePhoBlographer (Click here) tested the Rokinon 24mm T/1.5 lens which is also the first E-mount lens that covers the Full frame image circle. Actually Samyang/Rokinon announced five of these Cine Lenses:

8mm T/3.8 Fisheye Cine Lens for Sony E at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
14mm T3.1 Cine Lens for Sony E at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
24mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

If you buy them you can use them on your current APS-C NEX camera or the Vg900 and future NEX-9 FF camera! ThePhoBlographer writes about these lenses: “They’re sharp, contrasty, affordable, ergonomically excellent, and overall exhibit some excellent image quality. The textured exterior is wonderful when the lens is being held in a hand–though we overall still recommend one to use a follow focus system when using this lens.

Reminder: As usual be aware that Samyang has many different brand names. Click on these Slidoo eBay links to see a list.
USA: Rokinon, Samyang, Opteka, Bower and in Europe: Samyang, Rokinon, Walimex, Falcon, Vivitar.

Cool EQUINOX E-mount Camera Concept!

All concept images via Yanko Design.

We had quite a long and complex discussion last week about how Sony should make hybrid mount camera. And Designers Dae Jin Ahn and Chun Hyun Park found a very creative solution. They designed a modular NEX camera that has as its hardcore a compact Sensor module. I found this to be an extremely elegant solution but I doubt Sony is going to develop a modular E-mount system- Would be nice, but not going to happen.
