(SR2) Are these the next FE lenses? 16-35mm, 35mm f/1.4 and 90mm macro.

Share

First of all, this is a rumor coming via Kakaku and not from my sources. So take it with a grain of salt. Japanese sources at Kakaku claim to have got reliable info from Sony that these will be the next Sony FE lenses:

16-35mm f/4.0 Zeiss
35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
90mm Sony G macro

All reliable info I got from my sources is that there is a new Sony announcement in about 4-6 weeks. And one anonymous sources told me two new FE lenses will be released by then (the wide angle zoom and the fast prime). I would definitely buy the 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss if they release it! And you?

Do you like this design for a Sony 5 $999 camera?

New Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART lens gets a price in Australia ($1,499)

Share

The Australian CameraPro is the first worldwide store that gives us a clue about the price of the new Sigma 50mm f/1,4 ART lens. The lens is priced at $1,499 AUSD. USing the current conversion this is about 1000 Euro or $1350. Of course prices in US are expected to be much lower. That’s quite a good price considered that Sigma aimed to match the quality of the 4 times more expensive Zeiss Otus lens! Now let’s hope reviews will come out soon to tell us if Sigma really achieved fulfilled the task.

New Tamron 150-600mm lens already gets DxOmarked!

Share

DxOmark (Click here) posted the Tamron 150-600mm lens test. They used the C-mount version but as you know there is an A-mount version too (prerder here at BHphoto). DxO confirms that this is the best superzoom they have tested to date:

If Tamron built this lens to outperform the Sigma offering then they succeeded with full frame cameras. The gain in performance over their rival’s offering is less noticeable on the APS-C cameras. Despite that, the image quality is a slight improvement over the Sigma. Given the longer range and similar price, it’s a pretty impressive achievement.

The Tamron even outperforms the pricier Canon lens on the full frame Canon EOS 5D Mk III though it’s less convincing when compared with the Canon EOS 7D. There’s likely too little in it to switch but for first-time buyers the new Tamron is attractive proposition.

Great lens!

Samyang will develop autofocus lenses too!

Share

Last year we reported that Samyang will make autoficus lenses for the E-mount system. Well, within the next couple fo days Samyang will officially launch the new logo you see here on top. And they will also announce the development of their first autofocus lenses! Great news for all E and A-mount camera owners because Samyang is well-known for their high optical quality and relatively low priced lenses.

P.S.: Currently Samyang sells their lenses under different brands. Don’t know if they will get rid of that confusing strategy. Here are the brands linked to ebay lens search results:

Slrgear tests the 35mm FE: “Another triumph of sharpness for Sony”.

Share

SLRgear tested the Zeiss 35mm FE lens and writes:

Optically, this lens is a stellar performer, as many Zeiss lenses are, with very sharp images on both the new full-frame cameras as well as sub-frame Sony cameras. Other factors like chromatic aberration and distortion are practically nonexistent with this lens, but there is some vignetting and a minor amount of corner softness, particularly on full-frame cameras at wider apertures — a pretty small price to pay for outstanding performance otherwise.
