Is Tamron seriously planning to launch this 20-400mm megazoom?

Share

I got a tip from an anonymous caller. So there is a high probability that this is WRONG and BS. But I’m posting this anyway because this lens has a unique focal length and I’m actually wondering if you would want a lens like this:

Tamron is planning to release a 20x superzoom lenses in autumn 2024: the 20-400mm F/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD, which weighs in at just over 1kg, but isn’t particularly heavy.
Tamron’s full-frame focal lengths range from 17mm to 500mm, but the arrival of the 20-400mm F/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD, which almost covers the entire focal length range, breaks the silence in the field of lightweight full-frame superzooms.
Meanwhile, evaluations of pre-production models show that its image quality is surprisingly close to that of other 400mm/500mm lenses from the same manufacturer.

Like I said, I think it’s 95% likely that this rumor is wrong. But just imagine for a moment if there was such a lens…. One lens to tulle them all :)

Surprise: No Sony Creative Space event in October?

Share

In recent years, Sony has often announced new cameras at its Creative Space events, usually held in late October or early November. But this year Sony seems to not have planned such an event. It might be that in very last minute they will announce it but this is really odd and a sign that they might have NO camera ot announce this year? If you happen to have some info about that please drop me a message using this contact box or at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

As I reported last week, the Sony A7V will be launched in the first quarter of 2025. The Sony A1II will also be on the market in 2025. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there’s something I don’t know yet and we might get an announcement in October-November, like every year!

Creative Space 2022
Creative Space 2021 (online event)
