Well it was true after all! Indeed Sony announced two new Full Frame E-mount lenses. Well, one is the already pre-announced 28-135mm PZ zoom. But the second is the long time rumored Zeiss 16-35mm f/4.0 FE OSS lens! Release is said to be “mid year”. No price info yet.

I am surprised the camera doesn’t record XAVC-S! But I have been told the camera is all about delivering the best possible autofocusing experience. And it’s very impressive in that!

By the way, ThePhoBlographer posted a hands on with the A7s: “From the JPEG results and prints that we saw, this camera has the absolute cleanest ISO 3200 output that we’ve ever seen.”

Well, this is really a surprise. I have been told by many trusted sources that Sony decided the very last days to split the announcement of the new cameras! The A77M2 is coming in a couple of hours (10am London time) while the RX100M3 will be announced later (likely May 15). UPDATE: Also the A7s pricing announcement has been delayed!
Add to this that Sony also decided to make different announcements in different regions. As you can see from the Hong Kong flyer (image below) the A77MII will be announced on may 7 in Hong Kong. A bit of a mess I know :)

Tomorrow (May 1) Sony will announce the new A77M2 (first A-mount camera after the 14 months old A58), RX100M3 and likely the final A7s pricing (around $3499 AUSD). I am still not sure about the two “new” lenses mentioned by one trusted source. The other sources haven’t seen them and it may be the source just meant the slightly updated 18-55mm kit lens and the FE Powerzoom. The best thing we can hope is that he might meant two new FE lenses that Sony could unveil on their updated roadmap. Anyway, these are the specs about the two upcoming cameras:
A77M2 A-mount:
new 24 megapixel Sensor
79 af points, 15 cross points
very Fast Tracking performance

UPDATE: Looks like different countries will see the cameras announced on different days. This is Sony’s Hong KOng invitation test for a May 7 announcement. This isn’t unusual. Also the A7s has been announced in US first and only days after in Japan.
