Image on top shows the current [shoplink 9808 ebay]Biogon T* 2/35 ZM (here on eBay)[/shoplink] M-mount lens. The new Loxia 35mm could be very similar to it.

I have been told the first Zeiss Loxia prime lens will be a 35mm f/2.0 and 50mm f/2.0 manual focusing lens. It will have a physical aperture ring and electronic aperture control. I have no other info about price and lens physical design characteristics.

Zeiss has a [shoplink 9808 ebay]Biogon T* 2/35 ZM (here on eBay)[/shoplink] M-mount lens in their portfolio. Maybe the new Loxia also has a Biogon design. The lens is likely to cost more than the current 1 stop slower Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 FE lens. But it will have much higher optical and material quality.

The 50mm f/2.0 makes also a little sense to me as we already have a superb 55mm f/1.8 FE. But maybe the new 50mm lens is a macro to make the difference?

The question now is…

I want the "unseen" thing to be the:

(SR4) New Sigma A-mount lenses will be available in 18 months only :(

Share

This is the kind of rumors I do not like to post. But I got word from a good source that the new Sigma 24mm f/1.4 ART and 14-24mm ART lenses that will be announced at Photokina will be available in their A-mount version in 18 months only!!!

Sigma wants first to focus on Canon and Nikon mount version. They predict they cannot produce enough of those lenses for the first year. Therefore A-mount (and likely K-mount) production will start around early 2016 only.

This is the exact the same story we had with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 A-mount lens. At last I hope the 50mm ART will ship soon. Preorders are already up at Amazon (Click here) at BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). In Europe at WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here).

(SR5) Zeiss will soon announce the new “Loxia” lens line for Sony Full Frame E-mount!

Share

The Zeiss trademarked logo at Trademarkia.com

Zeiss will soon announce a new line of lenses named “Loxia”. It will be made for the Full Frame Sony E-mount system! The characteristic of those lenses are:

– They are native E-mount Full Frame lenses
– These are designed and made by Zeiss itself. These are not Zeiss branded and Sony manufactured lenses like the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE for example.
– These are manual focusing prime lenses (allows a more compact design).
– They have a physical aperture ring on the lens.
– Made of very high material quality.
– There will be many of such lenses coming the next 12 months.

Exciting!!! Stay tuned on SAR. I am working to get the lens specs as soon as it gets….

I have no specs of the new lenses yet but Zeiss already made manual focusing lenses for “non-DSLR”. These are the Zeiss “Full Frame” ZM analog camera lenses:
