(SR5) More images of the strange selfie-camera with Sonys curved sensor (and specs confirmed).

Share

Here are more images of the Sony KW1 selfie camera which is the first camera using Sony’s new curved sensor tech!

This is also interesting for us because Sony stated they have developed a Full Frame curved sensor too. And that new Kw1 proves that kind of sensor is 100% ready for production. Let’s see that damn RX1s soon! :)

UPDATE: Now officially listed at Sony China.

(SR5) Sony will launch a new ILCE-QX1 camera!

Share

I got this news weeks ago and now we got a proof via the Russian agency Novocert (Thanks Photorumors for spotting this). Sony will launch a new QX E-mount camera. it will be called ILCE-QX1. It’s basically a sensor and mount module that let’s you fit E-mount lenses on your smart phone or tablet!

I really don’t know if there is a market for this :)

P.S.: Photorumors also confirmed the rumor we posted last week. There will be a new 35mm G lens and a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G (article here).

(SR4) Samyang 50mm f/1.2 Cine lens (A and E-mount) to be announced on August 26.

Share

It’s really lens rumor time at Photokina! Samyang will launch a new 50mm f/1.2 VDSLR (Cine) lens on August 26. And as usual with their Cine lenses we expect to get both A and E-mount versions of it. There is no info about the price yet but current VDSLR lenses are very cheap and of extreme good optical quality. A full list of these A and E mount Cine lenses can be seen at BHphoto (Click here).

Dino:I just wanted to share a review I had done on the classic Olympus OM 50mm f/1.4 lens on the Sony A7. For such a relatively inexpensive prime lens it has surprised me on how well it had performed. I highly recommend this lens. http://13thfloorphotography.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-weekend-with-sony-a7-and-olympus-om.html#more

Gary:I am an avid Sony user. A77, A99 and CX900 camcorder. Just wanted to send you a link to a new video I made comparing the XAVCS vs AVCHD video codecs using the CX900. I looked everywhere for any kind of real life comparisons and could not find any anywhere. So I did a little test myself. The video shows a few different test shots from everyday situations and verifies my suspicions that the XAVCs Codec does handle highlights beter than AVCHD as well as find detail, even when the files are re-rendered as 28Mbps Mp4 files. Anyway here’s the link. Not sure if you would like to share this. I just thought it was worth doing because there are no such comparisons out there….Anywhere. http://youtu.be/P6ABJ-doFtQ

(SR5) Huge Zeiss announcement coming soon! E-mount owners will love it :)

Share

The original message from Zeiss on their Facebook page

Back in November 2103 Zeiss promised to launch new Full Frame Lenses for mirrorless systems. Well according to a 100% trustworthy source Zeiss has scheduled a new announcement to announce those lenses. I don’t have the exact announcement date but he said it’s coming damn soon (within the next 20 days). And the trusted source said E-mount owners will love the new stuff. Hands ready on your credit card guys! :)

I have no specs of the new lenses yet but Zeiss already made manual focusing lenses for “non-DSLR”. These are the Zeiss “Full Frame” ZM analog camera lenses:
