What you see here on top is the cover from the latest book of Sony Artisan Vivienne Gucwa. You can buy the book at Amazon US (Click here). Almost all images have been taken with the Sony A99. To learn more about the person and her work click over at Brian Smith’s interview with Vivienne. About the camera she uses:
The majority of images in the book were taken with the Sony A99 which was the camera I used for a large portion of my photography once I went full-time as a photographer. I recently switched to mirrorless cameras this year which has been nice for my back and arms in terms of the weight of the gear. It’s also been great in terms of shooting photography with a higher level of image quality than before. Many of my clients request large scale prints of my work. Being able to shoot with the A7R which is a 36 MP camera that produces images with a striking amount of detail has made me very happy and has made my clients extremely happy as well.
Her story has also been featured on TheGuardian (plenty of pictures can be seen there). And that’s her thumblr page with the list of gear she uses.

It’s Saturday and I actually had the plan to go out with my family. But an anonymous source just sent me those images (via Cnbeta.com) I have to post straight away :) Tech freaks will be happy to see the details of the world first Sony APCS (active pixel color sampling) sensor! The full document can be download here. Be kind note :) If that news is helpful for you link back to SAR when reposting, retweet it and like it on facebook. Thanks!
Like I told you a couple of days ago this is a 1.5inch sensor likely to be introduced in early 2015 in some video cam. The Sony sensor has the world first sensor capable of capturing the full color spectrum info in one single pixel. Sigmas Foveon sensor used on DP cameras uses three layered RGB pixel ordered vertically but the new Sony sensor has just one single layer. The sensor is also capable of Global Shutter and 2K recording at crazy 16,000 frames per second.
Today I got those detailed graphs showing how the sensor works. “Structure 1” shows how there is a color filter on top of the sensor that moves horizontally. There are three different exposures for each color (Red-Green-Blue). It’s basically a “color HDR” picture instead of a “dynamic range HDR” picture :)
The sensor has a native ISO of 5120 and an impressive dynamic range of 127,69DB at that setting.
On paper that’s a hell of a sensor! Having the full color info in one a single pixel allows to have larger pixel compared to modern RGB Bayer sensors (which means less noise or higher resolution possible at same noise level). It also doesn’t need an Anti Aliasing filter anymore (increases per pixel sharpness and gets rid of moirè issues). Global Shutter is also an amazing feature (faster frames per second, no more jello effects). The only question is how this triple exposure time will work on moving subjects and long exposure shots. But I guess Sony knows well how to overcome this. Now I am curious to read the comments of SAR experts on this! Comment here or on our new SonyAlphaForum!
It’s likely that future Alpha Camera will use that kind of sensor too! Stay tuned on SonyAlphaRumors because there is really an amazing amount of rumors to come!

Riaan: “I have no idea how many other have discovered this…and if they have they must be keeping it secret. The Sony A99 can sync a studio strobe outdoors in certain conditions. I am still testing how/why this happens…h.facebook.com/riaanrouxphotography/photos”
Darren: “So I had a recent project which I thought you may find interesting. I was recently graced with the opportunity to film a short with Daniel Ilabaca who is one of the top parkour athletes (traceurs) in the world. In this short Daniel traverses through the Los Angeles landscape in ways and places that are rarely seen. It is a unique glimpse into a city that everyone knows but that few have known like this. 90% of this short was shot on the Sony FS700. It has been my go to camera for actions sports for a couple years now. http://youtu.be/p9m-ujtNkHs”

Jorge: “The Online catalog feature on CameraPeddler.com which allows a user to inventory his or her photographic equipment is now up and running. Furthermore, The Group Valuation feature which allows other members to value your equipment in addition to your own personal estimate, can provide a graphical presentation of your items values from other photographers. This is a great way to provide real estimates to insurance companies and validate insurance claims if any. As always, you can make these features private by turning them on or off in your settings. The Member Wanted list is up and running as well. This is a fantastic way for dealers or individuals to monitor what potential buyers are looking for and connect with them if you have what they are seeking. A simple click of a button from within the Wanted List allows you to post an item in the market which will notify members immediately. You can also grab the RSS feed which will keep you up to date on wanted items. For an example of an Online Catalog, visit http://www.camerapeddler.com/onlinecatalog.php?userid=13 and click on the Graph Icon. For the Wanted List, visit http://www.camerapeddler.com/wantlist and click on the RSS icon to subscribe to the list.“
