Is the A7000 the “one more thing” from Sony?

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2015-05-25 um 07.31.29

The new A7rII and new RX cameras got announced just like the leaked Sony camera roadmap “predicted”. But there is one piece of the puzzle still missing. The “A6xxx series” camera. That camera was scheduled to be released before the A7rII (according to sources) but has been delayed because of overheating/hardware issues. So it’s yet unclear if that camera will still be announced in June. Weeks ago an (usually) good source said Sony had the plan to launch that camera around mid June. This means…this week. But there is yet absolutely no 100% guarantee this will happen.

So far it’s rumored that the camera is placed above the A6000 and will NOT replace it. It’s more of a [shoplink 8454 ebay]NEX-7 successor[/shoplink] and it’s likely to be named “A7000”. If the camera doesn’t get announced this month than it’s highly likely Sony pushed the release back to the next Sony announcement period in September.

Rumors aside: What’s your wish list for the A7000?

SAR reader Benny spotted that new Hasselblad “lusso” E-mount camera in a Hong Kong store. The luxurified A7r clone sells for around HKD40000 which is about $5,150. Not as terribly expensive as previous Hasselblad Sony clones if you consider the 28-70mm FE lens a nice box and strap are included in the final price.

Current Hasselblad Sony clones are:

Diglloyd tests the Batis lenses: “are must-haves for the serious Sony shooter”.

Diglloyd (Click here) is the first blogger having the chance ot test both new Batis lenses. And his first conclusion is unmistakably favorable:

Both the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 Distagon and 85mm f/1.8 Sonnar are must-haves for the serious Sony shooter. I intend to buy my own set along with the new Sony A7R II. I suspect that the Zeiss Batis lenses will be in very high demand just as has been the case with the Zeiss Loxia lenses.

Both Batis lenses are now available for preorder in USA and Europe (UK/Germany)

The very first RX1 competitor has been announced: The Leica Q.

Share

Note for German readers: Gold Box now on the RX1R (Click here).

It’s really great news that Sony finally got competition in the RX FF segment. Leica just announced their Leica Q camera (specs here at BHphoto). And I hope this will one more reason for Sony to finally unleash the RX2! Here is a short recap of the new Leica Q strong and weak points compared to the Sony:

advantages of the new Leica:
– ISO up to 50.000
– faster 28mm f/1.7 lens
– 3.68 MP EVF
– first reports indicate very fast autofocus in bright light conditions.
– better overall built quality and button layout
– longer battery life
– has a proper Q smartphone App

disadvantages of the new Leica:
– The RX1 is still a lot smaller
– video quality on the RX1 seems to be better
– The RX1 is cheaper (RX1 costs $2,800 and the Leica Q $4,250 although the Leica comes with integrated EVF).
