(SR5) Bomb rumor! First A9 specs: Dual XQD card slot, unlimited RAW burst.

Share

The new A9 is supposed to be a more “DSLR” alike sized camera (image above is a rendering)

About the source: This one comes from a very top source. It’s the same source that gave us the RX1rII specs months(!) ahead. So this is highly likely to be true!

The Bomb Sony A9 rumor: The source sent me this:

“The next generation flagship mirrorless camera from Sony will be a giant leap. It will drop a huge bomb in the imaging industry. It will not be A7III or A7RIII. It will be a new model above A7 series. I would say A9 (let’s name it as the new model). So the new A9 will have [shoplink 46602 ebay]dual XQD card slot[/shoplink], no CFast version, only XQD. A9 can do UNLIMITED RAW burst, UNLIMITED. The camera wont pause for buffering.”

Just recently Sony announced a new generation of [shoplink 46609 ebay]XQD cards (specs and prices)[/shoplink] which are now for sale bundled with the Nikon D5 (here on Amazon).

I repeat this one is a very top source. I hope he will send me some additional info soon like when will it be announced? What’s the sensor? Thanks :)

Sony a6300 earns the Gold Award at Dpreview

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2016-04-07 um 08.15.33

Dpreview posted the full A6300 review. The camera earned the full Gold Award with the following conclusions:

“The a6300 an exceptionally strong all-round camera. Its still images are a match for the best in its class, its autofocus is similarly strong and its video features and quality are unsurpassed at this price point. I’ve previously found myself admiring Sony cameras more than I enjoyed them, but that video capability and features such as Eye-AF have meant I enjoyed the a6300 in spite of the slightly clumsy user interface.
There are only two other things that risk taking the gloss off the a6300’s all-around excellence: a relatively small and often expensive selection of lenses, and the continued availability of the less expensive and very capable a6000. While the a6300 is a better camera in every possible respect, the a6000 is still a tempting option just because it’s so keenly priced. However, the a6300 outperforms its similarly-priced peers and I think I’d miss the myriad of improvements that the a6300 offers if I went for the cheaper sister model.
Overall, then, the a6300 is a camera where you benefit from putting in the work required to get the best out of it. It’s worth it, though, since it’s probably the most capable stills/video camera I’ve ever used. If the lenses you want are available, unless you really need a specific feature of one of its rivals, it should be at or very near the top of your list.”

Vello Nikon F to Sony E-mount autofocus adapter will ship in May

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2016-04-06 um 21.36.13

The new Vello Nikon F to Sony E autofocus adapter is available for preorder at BHphoto (Click here). It will ship beginning of May. Here is the full adapter description:

Breathe new life into your Nikon F-mount lenses with this Vello Auto Lens Adapter that enables you to mount Nikon glass to a full-frame or APS-C Sony E-mount mirrorless camera body and retain full automatic functionality. When using most G-type and E-type lenses from Nikon, users will have autofocus, including phase-detect support, and auto exposure as well as the ability to control the aperture from the camera body. Image stabilization is also supported and will work in tandem with any in-body stabilization systems. Users of most D-type lenses will have access to auto exposure capabilities and all Nikon lenses will be able to communicate Exif data through the adapter to the camera.

The mount is designed for long-term use with a durable metal construction and it has a matte black interior that will help reduce reflections for optimal image quality. Additionally, it has an integrated tripod foot with a 1/4″-20 socket that can be used to reduce stress on the camera’s lens mount when using larger lenses.

– Adapts Nikon F-mount lenses to full-frame and APS-C format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras
– Maintains support for autofocus, auto exposure, and image stabilization with most G-type and E-type Nikon lenses
– Most D-type lenses are supported with auto exposure
– Depending on the camera, phase-detect autofocus is supported along with contrast detection
– Communicates Exif data to the camera to be saved in the image file for later reference
– Integrated tripod foot has 1/4″-20 socket for direct mounting on a support system, eliminating unnecessary strain on the camera’s lens mount
– Matte black interior helps reduce flare for optimal image quality
– Metal construction for long-term durability
– Auto exposure function is not compatible with Sony’s E-mount camcorders, such as the PXW-FS7

Thanks Michael and Shomi!
