If you order the Sony A1II today you are likely to get it in April only according to the latest update posted on Adorama. No US or European store has any A1II in Stock right now:
What you see above is the optical design of a new Tamron 200-800mm f/6.7 lens that was recently patented. Now, being a patent there is no guarantee yet this will make it into final mass production. But I absolutely think they should do this lens!
Compared to the Canon, the Tamron would have a much more interesting constant aperture of f/6.3. The disadvantage of the Tamron is that the patent description states that the total length of the lens would be 41,5cm. The Canon is almost exactly 10cm shorter (31,4cm). But that’s a compromise that I can certainly live with and you?
In the same patent, Tamron also describes a shorter alternative: the 200-600mm f/5.6. In this case, the lens length is 35.4cm. This is 4cm longer than the Sony 200-600mm lens, which in turn ‘only’ has an aperture range of f/5.6-6.3. Also nice!
Just curious...which one would you consider to buy?
