Source 1:

Sonys next thing at e-mount are two prime lenses. one large prime for wildlife and portrait 100mm at f 2.0- one vastly open wide angle 24mm

Source 2:

The sony A7S III that will be anounced next spring will be the first interchangeable lens camera featuring a RGBW sensor. This will result in an sensitivity increase of 84%. Additional improvements and the cooper wired backlight sensor will result in a total of over 1 fstop of noise improvement

Source 3: Sony A7III

The A7III will have dual card slots and a much faster AF system.I was speaking to a Sony rep who assured me that the newer A7III and above will have these two features. Those were my big two concerns, so I didn’t ask about anything else. I’m a horrible source

Notes on those kind of (im-)possible rumors:

  • Fake rumors sent by so claimed sources that are known to create fake rumors are NOT included. What you see here are messages I got from unknown sources where I have no track of any “rumor history”
  • It’s by readers request that I create this sum up of low ranked rumors. But please remind all that these are not rumors from trusted sources and don’t count me accountable on those kind of very low ranked rumors :)
  • The last year a couple of those rumors were right (RX1rII and A6300 specs). So miracles sometimes can happen :)

New Sony FS7 primers from Omeneo

Hrvoje:I have thoroughly analyzed Sony FS7 and optimized its imaging performance.
New Primers Equinox series starts from this camera. These Primers are designed for professional log recording 10 bit+ cameras. This particular package is designed specifically for FS7 sensor and S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine basis and it optimizes the signal for Rec.709, significantly improving Sony FS7 performance.
Included are 4 64x64x64 .cube files for post production workflow and 4 33x33x33 .cube files for camera and set preview.

01 Base is best suited for a colorist, other three are more definitive and closer to the final outcome and may be more helpful to shooters working on their own material and as a set preview. All four are greyscale neutral and utilize full available dynamic range of the sensor and recorded shadow and highlight data is preserved. This makes S-Log3 workflow much more practical and consistent and there is no shadow accentuated noise as initially assumed with S-Log3.

Achieved:
– Improved color performance on many aspects across the whole signal range
– Optimized utilization of full sensor dynamic range
– More natural and organic image impression

Primers should be used as a first step in post on S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine shot material and all color modifications apart from white point correction should come after the signal is optimized.

Kind regards and happy shooting!

Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 Review at Photographyblog

Share

loxia

Photogrpahyblog tested the new Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4:

The Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 is a pleasure to use, thanks to its superb weather-proof build quality and wide, smooth focusing ring. When manually focusing the Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 delivered a very high percentage of keepers thanks to the A7R II’s excellent magnification and peaking features. Vignetting is apparent when shooting wide-open at f/2.4, but quickly disappears as you stop down to f/5.6, while both chromatic aberrations and pin-cushion distortion are very well controlled.
There are a few drawbacks to the Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 lens, though. You obviously don’t get auto-focusing, the 80cm minimum focusing distance is a little restrictive, it’s larger and heavier than its main rivals, and the asking price of $1399 / £1199 / €1399 is a lot of money to pay for a manual focus prime lens.

The lens is set to start shipping right before Christmas at BHphoto, Amazon and Adorama. In Eu at Amazon.de.
