The NABshow did open today. The Sony teased  “exciting new camera“ is actually the new HXC-FB80 camcorder and not a new A7sIII we were hoping to see.

All I can give you as new information is that today more sources confirmed there is another Sony press event before the start of the Photoplus show on October 25.

Like I said before, I am not sure about what to expect at PhotoPlus. We got info about A7III (24MP, A9 autofocus, 6fps), A7sIII (same A9 PDAF), 135mm FE and 400mm FE lenses. But none of the sources so far could say with 100% certainty WHEN exactly this stuff will be announced. At Photoplus you might expect something from that product pool or nothing at all.

All I can say for sure is this:

1) There is another press event before Photoplus start.
2) Sony has officially registered two new cameras (code “WW930439” and “WW158299”).
3) Sony will announce new Alpha Stuff within 3-4 weeks (This means if it’s not at Photoplus it’s mid-late November at max).

The one source who correctly told me about the new RX camera announcement on Sept 12 (rumor here) just confirmed once more the new A7s is coming “soon”. I know the word “soon” is not helping us much but this is what he told me.

All we know is that between now and Oct 24 Sony will have one more press event. And again “press event” isn’t a guarantee for a product announcement neither.

I am not giving this rumor any rank as it’s too vague for now. So keep expectations low(!!!) and let’s see if we get some more info the upcoming hours/days. Even if this source shared a correct info on Sept 12 there is still no guarantee he will be right this time too! So please don’t put too much hope on this for now ok?

Yesterday I reported two news:

1) Sony teased the launch of an “exciting new camera” for the NABshow starting on October 18.
2) Sony will have a second press event (with product announcement?) at PhotoPlus next week (October 24 or 25).

Today Sony announced the new HXC-FB80 camcorder. And the bad news is that I seriously think this is the “exciting camera” Sony was teasing. And once again its disappointing news for us after the “game changing” RX10m4 (which is a nice camera but surely not game changing). But I told you to keep expectations low on this latest Sony teaser. The good news is:

I told you in my previous rumors I am 99% certain new Sony Alpha Stuff will be announced in the time between now and mid November. That’s what multiple sources told me and what a leak at Sony’s latest camera registration (see image below via Nokishita) confirmed: The camera model with the code “930439” could be the a7sIII or A7III. Fingers crossed the next announcement on October 24-25 (next week) will be finally the right one!
