Dpreview says the Sony A9 real problem is the color output

Dpreview analyzed the A9 RAW files (note: pre-production camera!). First the good news:

Noise appears to be well-controlled, and they’re very malleable, even at the high ISO values we found ourselves shooting at.a

And now the bad news:

These issues with color are exacerbated with auto white balance that struggled under artificial light (see the skaters at the top of the page). Sure, it’s not difficult to dial in a custom white balance for a sideline photographer shooting under the same light all evening, but it’s something to note nonetheless as auto white balance can be valuable for fast-moving photographers in fast-changing situations.

While this is also in some measure a matter of personal taste I kinda have to agree that Sony still is a tiny bit behind the great color quality of Canon. Of course this isn’t something to worry about if you have time to work on files. But I do hope Sony will further improve the color performance via future firmware upgrade so that we have to spend less time on post processing.

New King Pro TTL HSS Flash for Sony!

PixelHK announced the new King Pro TTL HSS Flash for Sony. It is already available at Amazon US, Amazon.ca, [shoplink 58392 ebay]eBay[/shoplink], Amazon.de, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it and Amazon.es.

King PRO for Sony, a multifunctional Wireless TTL Transceiver Trigger, is a newly flash trigger designed for new Sony hot shoe. It supports TTL, M, HSS, light ratio control, exposure compensation, group control and so on. Importing FSK2.4GHz wireless flash control system, the control distance is up to 300m. Apart from the high performance of controlling Sony Speedlite, it also controls the flash on the receiver of King PRO for Canon/Nikon reach the same high performance flash mode.

My very personal Sony wishlist (A7rIII, 135mm FE….)

We just had a busy A9 announcement time and soon Sony will announce 1-2 new FE lenses. Before we move on to new rumors I want to share my very personal wish list to Sony and our readers:

Sony A7rIII (or A9r): 50+ Megapixels, same A9 body but with improved touchscreen functionalities.
135mm f/1.8 FE
24-105mm FE: Perfect as an ultimate travel zoom
28mm f/1.8 GM prime lens
50mm f/1.2 GM lens: I hear you wondering why I need another 50mm lens. But I do love the Canon 50mm f/1.2.

This is what I would consider to buy if Sony would fulfill my dream list :)

The Nissin Air 10s release date postponed to July 2017

Previously, the Nissin Air 10s advance wireless commander (Sony version) was scheduled to be released to the public in April 2017, followed by the Fujifilm, Micro Four Thirds, Canon, and Nikon versions to be released in subsequent months.

We have postponed the release date of the Air 10s commander (Sony version) to July 2017 due to the match of product specifications with Nissin’s future flash products. The Nissin Air 10s Sony version is set to be released first, and the other models will gradually be released to the public in the following months.

Nissin would like to apologize for the delay. Thank you for your continued support.
