Just a dream: Sony 150-600mm lens

Share

An anonymous source created and sent me this image of a Sony 150-600mm A-mount lens. It’s a nice dream but it’s just that…a dream. I have to confess I have not heard of any possible upcoming new A-mount lens from Sony. The focus is clearly on new FF E-mount lenses.

And even if I am wrong and Sony is going to launch some A-mount lens this year than we can safely bet this will be an updated version of current existing lenses to improve the AF performance. UPDATE: I just got this:

One more rumor: Tomorrow Tamron will announce the new 24-70mm f/2.8 lens which will be available for Canon/Nikon only. A Sony A-mount version might be launched in 2018.

Update for FS7 Primers Re: Sony FS7 is improved :)

Share

Hrvoje from omeneo.com sent me this news:

In the past couple of months we have been analysing and optimizing several new cameras and during that process after 2 years in development we have further improved the methodology. That allowed improving the final results possible through Primers.

So…empowered with new insights we went back and checked what we can do with prior models. We have recently updated Primers set for FS7/FS7mk2/FS5 (omeneo.com/primers/). Significant improvements in tonal distribution and dramatic difference compared to generic gamma and color space transform tools.

These are designed for S-Log3 gamma and S-Gamut3.cine color mapped imagery from FS7 sensor, and inside the 3DLUT embodied conversion step from its base gamma and color to rec.709 there are many built-in signal improvements for accuracy, natural image impression and post-production consistency with minimized noise.

As before with Primers EQX series for professional cameras, package contains separate Primers for camera or recorder monitoring and separate and more precise ones for post-production. Shooters using these for video preview get more accurate and less digital looking imagery while shooting, with full DR visibility and no data clipped. Also, they are less likely to underexpose based on visual feedback, due to “healthy” per-sensor shaped video signal optimization. Imaging post-production professionals using these can achieve much improved image results as a basis, with more resources left for creative work.

Fellow creatives who purchased their FS7 sets should check their email during the next few days. As a thank you to all who contributed to this project update is free of charge.
Prior Sony camera models we covered are also due for an update as soon as possible and we have a new model in the works. Compact one and even better then expected. :)

Happy imaging to all…

Hrvoje

Lensrentals about the new Sony 12-24mm: “one of the more impressive Sony offerings that have come out”

Share

Lensrentals tested the MTF performance of the new Sony 12-24mm lens and concludes:

The MTF results tell you if the lens should be a sharp lens, and the results here indicate that it should. That makes it worth further investigation for those of you interested in this focal length. It’s one of the more impressive Sony offerings that have come out; reasonable price, excellent MTF, reasonable sample variation.
There is something that is more interesting to me in the bigger picture, though. Sony has made this lens smaller than the others in this range, which will be nice sitting on an FE camera. And they’ve done that without the customary ‘Sony surcharge’, which is nice on your wallet. At this point, I can’t help but be very impressed.

The new lens is in Stock in Europe! Just check the links below:
