I am 90% certain Sony will launch 400mm FE lens during the second half of the year. But I have yet no reliable info if this is going to be a f/2.8 or f/4.0 lens. So if it’s solid rumors you seek stop reading here.

The only additional specs I got is from a new source. Which means there is a high chance it is not correct. But I figured it would be interesting to hear from SAR readers if such a lens would be appreciated.

The source claims he has seen the 400mm f/4.0 FE prototype:

Market release in Q3 2017
White color with “very elegant design”
aprox. 2,3 kg weight,
fast autofocus
focus limiter buttobs,
OS in lens
price aprx 4.500 usd

If true the price would be surprisingly low compared to what the Canon EF 400mm costs! But still, this rumor is still not coming from my trusted sources. I hope to hear from them soon.

A-mount owners will have to wait to get these lenses. Because according to Nokishita there will be Canon and Nikon version only. Usually Tamron does announce A-mount versions 6-9 months later but so far this is not confirmed. In the meantime here are the specs:

According to multiple sources (Thank you all!) Samyang will announce another Autofocus FE prime lens during the second half of 2017. I have no specs yet but I do hope those same sources will soon give me some info :)

So far Samyang has three autofocus FE lenses in their lineup:

What is the lens you hope Samyang will announce this year?

These are the first images of the new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD G2 lens. The lens will be first available for Canon and Nikon mount but it should be available a few months later for Sony A-mount too.
