Share

Sony issued a new firmware update for the RX0 (download here). This utility updates the camera firmware to version 2.00 and provides the following benefits:

  • Supports Camera Control Box (model CCB-WD1) for wired multi-view shooting
  • Improves wireless multi-view shooting with the PlayMemories™ Mobile application

    Notes:

    • PlayMemories Mobile application version 6.2 or higher is required.
    • Depending on the specifications of the access point, smartphone, tablet, and the radio wave environment of the installation location, the number of devices that can be connected will change. Based on testing, up to 50 units have been connected.
    • Use only on Wi-Fi connections with security measures.

iPhone X failing sales may hurt Sony’s sensor business

Share

Today you may read about Apple cutting 50% of the production of the iPhone X. This could affect Sony’s business too. Bloomberg reports:

The Tokyo-based company’s image sensor business is likely to weaken amid slowing momentum for Apple Inc.’s iPhones, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. wrote as he downgraded the company to neutral from overweight. IPhone X production will probably fall 50 percent quarter over quarter and the weakness is likely to continue for the first half of the year as demand for high-end smartphones plateaus, according to J.J. Park. Sony shares fell as much as 5.2 percent by midday in Tokyo.

Still, Sony is still doing well:

Despite a correction in Apple supply chain names, Sony has massively outperformed its global peers thanks to the structural trend of dual-cam

1) Zeiss Loxia 25mm f/2.5 FE. It will cost $1,299 and preorders will be open on February 14
2) Laowa 9mm f/2.8 for APS-C E-mount. To be announced within the next days

4) Presentation of a new Sigma FE lens line (ART primes and maybe a zoom too)

What lenses could be announced by Sony?

  1. We have been told the 200.-600mm FE is on the roadmap but it will not be announced at CP+
  2. The 135mm f/1.8 FE is still on top of the roadmap. Could be announced at CP+
