Sony will definitely have a new product announcement event in April!

Share

I am now 100% sure that Sony will have a new product announcement event in April. I am working to get a final confirmation on the date and product(s) announced. But for sure you should NOT expect to get a new A7sIV or A1II…

The most exciting thing we can hope for is to get the 24-70mm f/2.0…but I am not sure this lens is coming yet or before summer.

Competition rumor: As reported on Nikoneye.com on March 26/27 (depending on your time zone) Nikon will announce the new 28-400mm f/4.0-8.0 Z lens!

PetaPixel says that Sony can’t do in camera image stacking because of patent limitations

Share

According to PetaPixel, Sony cannot have in-camera image stacking or electronic LiveND because OM System owns the patents. If this is the case, I hope Sony can come to an agreement with OM Digital, because it is really annoying not to be able to use some functions directly in the camera. I know OM Digital is not doing very well financially, so maybe they would be happy to collect some money for licensing their patents?

Rumor correction: This is the REAL leaked image of the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 lens

Share

Sorry for the confusion guys. But a trusted source told me the previously “leaked” image was fake. He was fooled too because indeed the new Sigma 50mm f/1.2 looks nearly exactly like the current Sigma 50mm f/1.4. He shared an image of the real lens (see the small “crop” image above). It has the same 72mm filter size like the f/1.4.

Sigma 50mm f/1.2 lens specs:

  • 38g lighter and more compact than the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM (Sigma weights 740g and the Sony 778g)
  • The size and chassis is about the same of that of the Sigma 50mm f/1.4.
  • 72mm filter size
  • The lens aperture has 13 blades (50mm f1.2 GM got 11 only)
  • More affordable than the Sony
  • Comes for Sony E and Leica L
  • Announcement on March 26 at 21 Tokyo time (that’s 13:00 in Berlin and 8:0 New York time)
